Mode 2 - Wheelie Control question.

Greetings,
After reading Brock's write up and viewing his video in the "2012 Kawasaki ZX-14R Press Intro... from Brock's Point of View" article ( http://www.dragbike.com/dbnews/anmviewer.asp?a=7002&z=18 ), I was wondering what prevents the bike from doing a wheelie in Mode 2. As I understand it, Mode 2 is a traction control feature, i.e. one that prevents wheel-spin. We all know you don't need wheel-spin to have a wheelie. So if Mode 2 can still prevent a wheelie without wheel-spin, how is it doing this. Is there a gyroscopic device in the system that recognizes when the front tire is coming off the ground? I have heard, perhaps incorrectly, that the BMW S1000RR has such a device, and in addition to preventing wheelies, it can prevent wheel-spin / loss of traction when the bike is leaned over more than a set number of degrees and the throttle is twisted beyond the limits of traction.
Is the system on the 14R the same, or is it less advanced than the BMW's, or is it just 'different?'

Thanks for your thoughts on this!

It's not like the BMW .. No gyroscopic . It goes off front and rear wheel speeds .. If the front doesn't match the back the T/C comes into play .. I tried to do a burn out in tc 3 and it's a no go ... In tc 2 i can get a little spin for a split second and no wheely.. in tc 1 i can get a pretty good wheel spin and a wheely that holds the tire maybe a few inches of the ground .. This was at the drag strip so the actions may differ on the street .. There is a lot more to the system to make it work as good as it does and i really have no clue to the inter working of this system.. But from my short time riding the bike it works very very well .. By the way it is the same system the 2011 zx10 uses ..

OK, so if I understand it then, its the fact that as the front wheel lifts it loses speed compared to the rear wheel, and the system senses this differentiation between the speeds of both wheels and reduces power until the front wheel lands and begins to again match the speed of the rear wheel, correct?

Makes sense.

yes .. And with 3 modes you can pick how much or how little you want the system to work or react.. Turn it off and you are on your own ..
