Nitrous question
I have had the 1lb. bottle on my bike since I put the Muzzy kit on with a 30hp jet (25hp). I have just mounted a 2lb. bottle. With the 1lb. I was gaining .2-.25 et in the quarter on the first spray and lost a .05 every pass after. Anybody give me a guess of a pick up in et now, if any? Dont use it much, maybe 3 times a year but gonna try it more this season coming.

KawJockey...most likely due to bottle pressure. As the nitrous is used, the bottle gets colder. This lowers the pressure and the nitrous is delivered in a more liquid state versus and vapor or atomized state. In the more liquid state, power levels are lower as the nitrous isn't mixing as well as in the vapor state with the fuel. Do you have a bottle heater system? This will help keep the bottle temps up (they need to be around 85-90 degrees) which will keep your bottle pressure up.
My heater system is set up to use the bikes power or external power. Used a simple switch to go between the outside source or the bikes power. This system keeps my pressure at or very close to 950 PSI.

I dont have a heater but have installed one before. I have not used the nitrous in the winter, only the summer. The bottle pressure reads 900-1000 pass after pass but there will be only 3-4 oz left in it. I guess the dynamic pressure gets real low when it turns on and flows.

Its called a pressure pro, or pressure regulator, its a must for consistant accurate pressure every pass!

How many passes are you getting on your bottles? I have 1.25 lb bottles and can get 4-5 1/8 mile passes and 2-3 1/4 mile passes per bottle. Are your bottles using a siphon tube? If so, are they long enough? Mine are mounted upside down and angled toward the rear to help the nitrous stay at the valve. No siphon tube.

Maybe 3 passes. The 1 lb did have tubes. It wont matter now I guess because of the 2lb NOS bottle I put on and it is upside down. Might look into a heater kit for it later on.

I would get 3 passes for a 2.5# bottle with 3#s of nitrous in it. I was also spraying a 100 shot tho...

Hi, and sorry for bumping old topic.
I am building my first nitrous bike and this just came in my mind:
Lets say that bottle pressure (filled) is something like 950psi at certain temperature, ie. 70F and during spraying bottle pressure (and temperature) drops to *??
My question is, is it possible to regulate line pressure to *?? and compensate lower mass flow with larger jets? Or has it some disadvantages? How low pressures you can use and what´s relationship with temperatures?

Ya you can use big jets and low psi to get he same power and small jets and psi cranked way up. The BEST thing to do is put a NANO system on it. I've put a few on cars but never a bike. Next nitrous bike I build will get a NANO for sure.

Seems that a blow torch would be easier to maintain bottle pressure...?

Ya at the starting line. But say 5-600 feet down the track when you are spraying a 100+ hp worth of nitrous and you start out with a 2.5# bottle with 900psi in it your psi at the end of a run will be down in the 500-600 range. With a nano it will stay at 900 psi till the bottle is 100% empty.

I think NANOs system is something to maybe consider in future, it looks great!
But I am starting in small steps, I was planning to spray 40, maybe max. 50...
I have Adams spray bar + 1lbs bottles. Focusing standing mile, maybe some quarters just for practise...
I´ve googled lots, but haven´t found any flow charts or formulas how to calculate nitrous jet mass flow from pressure? There's lot of information about wet systems and fuel jet calculations, but nearly nothing about nos jets.
Thanks,
Sami N
