stock air filter design

I always thought that the metal plate behind the air filter was unecessary and only added a restriction. How much support would you need for a pressure drop across an air filter?

Well, It looks like kawasaki expects the worse out of their owners....

after 23k miles , I did pull the filter out to take a look at it .... but only after the bike slowed down by 1 or 2 mph at the dragstrip .

On the upside, it does look like I killed a few yellow jackets and some other bugs :-)

We have the same mileage. Check compression. I'd be curious to see if it does not matter what filter you use. 228 psi is max, 149 psi is min. Mine is 220-210-220-220 psi ~ Before I gave it a valve adjustment.

My BMC looks like that at around 20k or so too. Ram air bikes are awesome for sucking up dirt and road debris.
