Traction control and drags
There are different modes for T/C one I believe allows some tire slip which should help the bike go faster. Now my new to me at least thought is can't T/ C reduce wheelies if used properly? As the bike leaves the front lifts the rear is rotating faster than the front so power is reduced. This should you to drop the clutch and hammer the gas. Anyone know different?

I would tend to think that it would aim to control wheelspin more than wheelies so you dont blow the tire away off the line.........if it did help control the wheelies i would think it would be at faster speeds like the top half of first gear rather than off the line to prevent flipping or 12 O'clock wheelies.

I believe that electronic "wheelie control" is a different animal. Does the 14R have wheelie control??

I haven't heard about it. The BMW has traction control and wheelie control and they are activated separately. They may use some of the same sensors, but mostly the wheelie control has sensors and gyros to determine the angle and then cuts power. I saw a roadracer type at the track in San Diego and it looked like a pogo stick, the front end was up, it would kill power it would drop, back up, etc.... But I know that traction control in cars doesn't necessarily help launches at the strip. Maybe for a lesser skilled driver, but a skilled driver could launch better and quicker without the assist. But for us mere mortals it may help, who knows.

Allright read a little about BMW S1000RR T/C and wheelie control here's a quote
" Sport and Rain modes is a form of wheelie control based on wheel-speed sensor data. If acceleration forces the front tire off the ground, it soon will be spinning slower than the rear. The ECU perceives this data as a loss of traction, and the DTC cuts power and therefore brings the front wheel back in contact with the tarmac, sometimes ungracefully"
It looks like on the BMW it cuts power too much and creates a pogo effect. Might be he same on the 14R but if one were to say have a little drag on the front brake in first gear the front tire will slow more quickly at lift off maybe reduce the pogo action. It would depend on how fast the power was cut on and off and how much of a cut.

if you can`t bang gears on the back tire you should`nt be racing bikes.

Agreed about banging gears on the back tire, but technology has it's good and bad points. It appears that for drag racing it will weed out the men from the boys...
