I believe he went through the traps at 238 mph...

Some rash, broken ankle, and rib injuries are what I've read.

Yes, get well soon, Bill!

For those who don't know Bill, he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. You wouldn't imagine he would be the type to run over 300 mph on asphalt.

He has really raised the bar in LSR, and that means he is pushing the limits at times. I guess Bill will soon tell us what happened. But everyone is just glad he is ok. 238 mph is nowhere near the capability of that machine...it went 311+ mph back in July.

I decided to start a new thread for all of those that want to want to keep up with Bill's developments after he went down at the Texas Mile this morning.

Bill made a warm-up pass of 208 mph first.

Then I think he made a full pass, but was only clocked at 236. I have heard that he insists that there was no WAY he was going that slow, that it felt very close to or at 300 mph. The data on the bike will tell. The bike survived very well, just the fairing scraped on the left side. The right side doesn't even look like it was in an accident.

Bill has a few broken ribs, a punctured lung (that they probably won't need to stick a tube in), a nicked liver that is slightly hemorrhaging (but should clear up on its own with no surgery), a severe abrasion on the inside of his left knee (so I was told, but given the circumstances it's probably the outside), a broken bottom left index finger that may require surgery (but at a later date), a large gash on his left ankle (I was told on top, but maybe the side) which is not broken (they checked twice because it looks bad) and that has no torn ligaments or tendons, and a bad bruise on his left shoulder (superficial only).

They have him in ICU as a precaution, and will probably keep him in the hospital for a few days.

I was told he has a limited memory of the fall, but this may be due to a possible concussion, and the feel-good meds he is probably on.

I heard he told Billy Shoemaker of Fkawi Racing to leave him at the hospital, go back to the track, and get the track record !!!!!

So now you KNOW he is going to be OK!

I will let him know of this thread so he has something to do while he is convalescing.

Walt

Bill Warner Injured in High Speed Crash

Bill told his crew the front end lifted - he believes at close to 300 MPH ( straight head wind 12-15 mph)... and then washed out that's all he remembers of the crash. He was knocked out and air lifted as a precaution.

It sounds like he is going to be ok.

A very concerned, knowledgeable spectator came up to me today and said he was positive that bill's 1/2 mile speed was 238, and that a mile speed didn't show on the displays.
Texas is now displaying and printing on run tickets both 1/2mile and Mile speeds.

I dunno is the guy is right, but 238 is about right for bill at 1/2 mile.

Billy S. doesn't have bill's ticket yet, we'll try to get it tomorrow. Timekeeper says he can recover it. Obviously no one picked it up on Friday.
Bill will say what he wants posted of course.

Get well Bill, the Texas crew is there for you and you are in good hands with Billy Shoemaker.

Still in the hospital. Had surgery today on his hand and foot. If all went well he should be released later this week. He will recuperate in Texas until he feels well enough to go home. LSL
