Flies out without PCIII ?

So if I start turning the '06 more back into stock form, would it be an absolute "no-no" to take my PCIII out with the secondary TB plates removed? I'd like to keep my PCIII if I trade bikes but putting those plates back in is something I'd like to avoid. Anybody try this?

Years ago my son pulled the flies from his 14 before he bought a PCIII. He took it to a dyno and it showed like 16:1 a/f ratio.

I wouldn't do it.

I'd want the PCV anyway. When I get rid of my bike the PCV has to stay.First of all my bike is fast with the pipe and 16/43 gearing.I'm going to buy the new 14R and I'll need Brocks new exhaust when he makes it cause my Alienhead has a 2 inch OD and the new bike needs more. The new bike has 42 tooth rear sprocket so I don't think there will be a need for flies removed on the 2012

Dan how about the flies out with no PC 3 and the stock exhaust back on. Do I have to reinstall the flys or can they be left out. I have everything saved if I have to put them back in,

How does it run? If you dragrace I think you shold get a tune. If your just riding on the street and just an occasional flogging you shouldn't be too concerned.

If you were flogging it on the strip you probably wouldn't be concerned because the lean spot is below the normal RPM range used on the strip. The street is where you should be really concerned because it is in that range. But like oldkawboy said, I wouldn't recommend it, that A/F ratio is scary.

I agree, Dakota. And I also think Oldkawboy makes a good point, but isn't that A/F ratio being scary dependent on where that 16:1 would show up? In other words, I'd imagine the A/F ratio to be dynamic and would therefore vary throughout the powerband and load that the engine is under. But if he is saying that the bike never saw anything richer than 16:1, then I'd think that would definitely be an issue waiting to happen.

If I remember correctly there is a spike around 3k-4k rpm where it is really lean. I know people that have ran it that way and they have been fine just being conscious of that rpm range. However, I know I wouldn't feel comfortable selling it to someone like that.
