Motorcycle Dragracing vs Cruiser's

Now I know a lot of you are sportbike only guys and not all of you dragrace. I on the other hand do both, I like Sportbikes and I also like cruiser bikes, I actually like all bikes. So with that said here is what I noticed in this shitty economy here in the south. At our local track on Test & Tune and on the events we have had this past summer turnout and bike count was way down. The guys that were die hard and always at the track have quit coming. There was a time when you had to get to the track early just to get a good parking spot. now it's little to no bikes at all. I also see this in the car crowd but not as bad. BUT.... Out of lack of something to do and it was 80+ out Saturday we decide to go to a local bike rally. So we jumped on the Street Glide and headed out to see whats up? This rally was in a great big pasture, and it was packed out. bikes everywhere. We hooked up with a friend of mine who had his campsite set up. At the track we run our bikes head up, give a spot or take the hit. Here at the rally they have bike games like The Slow ride, basically there is a distance to travel and the last one to cross the finish line without putting there feet down wins. Another game that was fun for me and the wife was you had to ride under a hotdog hanging from a string. the passenger has to bite the dog off the string and you can't put your feet down. Where did a Nurse learn that from several other bike games that we did, and all of them were in the grass. I guess my sportbike riding skills and the old days of a motocross rider payed off. I was a hit flat tracking the HD with my feet on the pegs for long distances through the field. And man was there ever some women there. I mean good looking ones in Bikini's everywhere. tons of Vendors, live bands, bike shows, burnout comp. a stage set for a Bikini contest. If the economy was bad you would not have know it here. I know there is a lot of HD and cruiser Haters. But bottom line I had a really good time. Hell I have been married 20 years and my wife let me hit it from behind out behind the camper at about 1:30 in the morning, felt like a kid again! I don't see me doing it all the time but for a change it was pretty fun. Now back to building my 1534 stoker.

Big_T112, I am with you I like all bikes and there is something to be said about your living room recliner on wheels(Harley). Obviously you are lucky to have the best of both worlds. I feel like I am ready to move on to something a little more comfortable myself. Not sure about the Harley yet but maybe a Concours or Multistrada.......Someday!

I own a gen2 busa a 14 and a steet glide. Street glide gets the most seat time. I love the radio and saddle bags.

epd345 it took a while to get to where I wanted a big HD to cruise on. I have had several from time to time and even did a stint dragracing a sportster. (against other Sportsters) The bike is great, I still don't "fit in" well sometimes because half of them are fake riders anyway. You here hear the stories of how much power so in so has, How fast such and suches bike is, all the time I got a Turbo Hayabusa sitting in the garage that would make any of them shit there pants on high boost. But they love there bikes and they like to ride. A couple of them think I am nuts when I dump the clutch from a light and smoke the tire with the bike trying to go sideways feet up on the pegs. I get a kick out of that. I don't see me without having a sportbike to take to the track and get out and play on, I like it to much but I also enjoy cruising on the HD. Even had a Honda XR650L for a while. whar ever you choose just ride. My younger years where I honed my riding skills was in the woods and on the Motocross track racing dirtbikes and weekends out at the local riding areas. When I made the jump to streetbikes I found myself wanting that feeling of what a dirtbike feels like on the dirt. That's when I started going to the local track and dragracing. I was 16 at the time. been doing it ever since.
