I see this whole discussion of ZX14r vs Busa as payback time for the guys who bleed green.

In many respects, Kaw has been sucking hind tit for 12 years, at best equal here & there.

Now Kaw has produced what looks like the unequivocal King of the street.

Go Kawasaki, GO!

WAIT A MINUTE BUSA BOY

Everybody knows a 06 zx14 laid the smack down on a gen1 busa.. zx14 clear winner for 2 years ..

You are right, for 2 out of 11 years, Kawasaki beat up on a 7 year old gen1 Busa.
AND Kaw apparently induced Suz to come up with the gen2.
Let's give credit: Kaw came out with ZX-11 back when Christ was a kid, and FINALLY induced Suz to step up the pace = Busa
Kudos to Kawasaki for setting the pole ever higher.

"Busa Boy".... bahahahahahahahahahahah, good one.

so by your logic suzi beat up on 1980's zx9 gpz , zx10, zx11 tech with a 1999 gayabusa.. which makes the old zx's the king and queens from 1984 to 1998...Moses was a dumpster child when kawi built the zx9gpz..

And R.G put a zx9 in the nines in 99 before the hayabusa. This is funny because I like the hayabusa and all three of my brothers have owned one.HELL I almost bought one to sell my 12brothers and turbo but I helped my younger brother buy it.

ZX11 was a groundbreaking bike

Busa was a groundbreaking bike

pre-2012 Zx14's and gen 2 Busas were solid incremental improvements

What I am hoping for is that the Zx14R will be another groundbreaking bike.

that's my logic

What i'm afraid of is that the ZX14R, like the BMW, is not "buildable" enough to compete with built Busas.

After 5 years of watching built ZX14's compete with built Busas in LSR (my obsession), they are not even in the same game, although i still have big hopes for Jim Gilnack's Zx14 Project.

who's built a zx14 and LSR raced it ..
and in the same note i've seen alot of built busas get beat at the dragstrip by stock motor bikes.. SO WHAT

The subject was not about built bikes but stock bikes that are king of stock bikes... STAY FOCUS CARL

6,070,000 records in LSR and i'd bet the cars win hands down .. they more buildable than bikes..

Yup, you're right, this thread is about stock bikes, and as i said above, the 14R will assuredly be the new King.

I just hope Suz answers the call, but honestly i'm doubting it.

Really, all they should do is a bore increase to stay on par.

Yup it would be simple for them, 1441 and gsxr1000 wheels and sell the crap out of them.

anyone know the 14R stroke vs the gen2 busa stroke?

IMO one reason the gen1 Busa did so well sales-wise against the 12 was the massive difference in stroke and with it much better low rpm power = "normal" rider streetlight enjoyment.

how does the 14R stack up?

My reasoning is slaughter the competition not compete.clearly sell something that is the king!I haven't owned a bike in over three years due to economy.my truck is almost paid for and it's about that time again.

It can be a deadly game that way. It can make for leap frog sales years that hurt manufacturers badly. The huge horsepower increase of the 14 this year will pull the majority of prospective Busa buyers over to Kaw. And if Suzuki made 15hp over the new 14 in 2013? This is why the literbikes have been incrimental up to the last year or so. Selling some is way better that selling none..

This may be of interest, Motor Cycle News (UK weekly paper) is putting the ZX-14 and the Hayabusa head-to-head in next weeks issue, Wednesday Feb 8th.

They don't always get it right in my opinion but there's always a first time and it might make interesting reading.

There should be something on here after the publication date: http://www.motorcyclenews.com/

Here's were I call bs on the comparsions!

In the video of the gen 1 stock 14 vs the gen 1 modded 14 vs the zx14r Rickey said it was a perfect day. You can clearly see how cold it is outside based on the way people are dressed. Rickey made all those passes on that slapped stock gen1 14 and was running 9.4's@147. Then jumps on the modded gen 1 14 and goes 9.2@153. But in 08 rickey ran a stock gen 1 14 and went 9.2@150. Now I could see if the 9.4 passes it was 90 degrees outside and the 9.2 was in 30 degree weather. 2 tenths and 3 mph difference? It took a modded gen 1 14 to run the same times the stock one ran in 08?

Not trying to hate thats just what I see....

Its things like that , that make me revisit what the busa ran in the comparsion video.

Do I think the busa could have taken down the 14r...... NO!!

But I think the busa was ridden by people that are pushing the new kawa zx14r and are basicly sponosred or work for kawa {dont know the details}. Looking at from a marketing stay point it would not look that great if rickey went 9.77 on the 4 year old techonology busa and then go 9.72 on the new hotness.
