I Don't Know What to Believe
Im going to announce this for everyone to hear.............THE NEW BIKE HAS A CLAIMED 210HP to the crank, and again I am stating that I BELIEVE that this NUMBER IS understated! I have the most experience of any civilian on the planet at twisting the throttle on the 2012 and it feels like 20 to 25hp more than last years 14 and will run .3 tenths faster and 5 mph in 1/4 mile at stock height and stock exhaust......
Is that enough 14 fans??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44xCj9RArhQ
If I read this and then watch the videos clearly it's not true, an amature on a Gen I zx14 running right beside a pro on a Gen II zx14, then we are told the new 14 will run 3 tenths quicker and 5 mph faster the the Gen I, uhhh something is wrong here. I want the new 14 to be what RG says but I see otherwise,

It doesn't actually show the run, so you have to listen near the end where Kevin says ".....he neglected to record my 9.78 second pass .........."
To be fair, Kevin Duke may be an amateur drag racer, but he is not an amateur rider.
I'm hopeful, but still cautiously optimistic at this point.
3 tenths and 5 mph is HUGE!

Uh, that was true of the "old" 14 ...................
You're missing the point of the stock-to-stock comparison as that's all we have to go on now.

I agree, time will tell what the new 14's going to perform like in the real world. The thing is kawi doesn't WANT us to wait, they want us to buy........its all about marketing and making money. If we buy first and ask questions later they make more money....we wait and the new bike doesn't quite live up to the hype, then we don't buy and they lose money. So of course they want a money making launch......
Ricky's irritated with us because we're cautious, yet how many times have we been overhyped? And yet this time is supposed to be different?LOL.
This is what happens when you overhype people too many times.....they stop believing

Key points to think about.
Kevin Duke is a lightweight which helps mph.
Those people were wearing jackets- it was cold!
The mission was to get the quickest ET out of that bike, with RG coaching.
The new 14R wasnt there that same day enjoying the much better DA the old 14 was.
So you think cooler weather doesnt help?
Stock head my bike ran avg 121mph 8th mile in 90-100 degree temp.
SS head(only 10hp more) ang 124 in temps in the 80's.
Ss head in 60-65 degree weather was hitting 126mph! No other changes.
Clearly on RG's temp guage on the new one you saw 99 degrees and the gen 2 busa was there running slow mph to verify the bad conditions, you think a stock gen1 ZX14 will out mph that Gen 2 busa? No way..

Let's wait for Brock to do his thing with the typical bolt-on mods that most of us will do. Brock weighs about 200lbs so once he has the mods in place and rides the bike we will have a better idea of what the "average" rider will be looking at.
Just my $.02
Thanks,

Just FYI, the "R" was designated originally for models that were a "replica" of purpose built roadracers, the GPZ900R was the first I can remember seeing with the R. Suzuki defined the R as a replica on the first generation GSXR bikes and stated that it really wasnt a replica but a ride-out racebike from the factory and that "race" is really more definitive . The "RR" of Honda models means "racer replica".
With that said, putting the R designation with a Busa or 14 is "retarded" from a roadracer mindset.

Well regardless of how the new bike runs, I think it looks damn good And I don't see it being any slower than the old one......so at the least you get a stroked motor as a starting point if your a racer, and if not, you still get traction control, more torque and good looks eh?
