It's the real deal peeps.
Just been round the various Kawasaki sites around the world and all are posting 200PS (197bhp) and 119 torque.
Don't get me wrong, Kawasaki have boldly claimed it's the fastest accelerating bike on the planet and I don't doubt it, especially with the shortened gearing and extra torque.
With the gearing changes it seems the Busa boys will still claim the fastest bike.
Let's hope once the regulation crap is off it the full ponies come to the fore as the official specs look lame considering they were talking "Witness the Phenomenon".

Spec-sheet racing is not going to tell us anything.
Even when the first 14 came out, there was the same kind of talk.

Thanks Roy for posting that gearing info..............I know your calculations are spot on but in the real world do you really think the top speed of a stock Zx 14R will be slower than a stock Gen 1 Zx 14?.................I seem to remember stock Zx 14's couldnt pull their gearing and needed to be geared a little bit (16 tooth or + 2 on the rear) to reach max top speed.........seems like they figured the limiter kicks in at 186 so they gave us the gearing for better 1/4's but still hit 186 top speed?

+1. U guys that r cryin bout tha hp #'s r crazy. Torque is what this new bike is gonna b about. I am speakin from experience, i have a stroker in my 06 and my hp #'s were low but tha torque # was high and wat my bike does against other bikes 2 include built 1000's that weigh much less is crazy. Hate tha hp output on this bike all u want but n tha end tha bike will speak 4 itself! A 4 mil stroke is no joke!
agree.... feelings will be hurt..

I agree real world numbers at the dragstrip will tell ALOT more that spec sheet crap but at the same time I have to say I am a little disappointed that this bike is rated at the same horsepower as a ZX 10 and "stock" vmax.........I was expecting and hoping for 10 more horsepower!!!!!!!
As for the same talk when the Zx 14 came out in 2006...........your right the ZX 14 raised the bar and was a a nice step forward over the ZX 12 and Gen 1 Busa...........but I think people were hoping for 10 more horsepower with that as well............I'm really hoping this Zx 14R is a beast and a huge leap forward...........it NEEDS to be to sell lots of bikes in this economy priced at $15K!!!

Mid to high 170s, maybe 180 at the back wheel stock is a disappointment for me.
Can't deny it.

Pay attention guys those of you that understand will get this.
If you put a 2mill crank from a genII busa into a genI busa you get about 7 - 9 hp more thats all the hp the crank will give you. But the torque is much more. Seem thas what Kaw did also its not about peak hp but the amount of hp under ther curve. And they got much more under the curve so job well done. Just think a stock bike with race gas and sock cans can give over 200hp thats krazy. Zuk got about the same 30 hp increase from genI to genII with there mods.

+1 Master, that is what I am waiting for some real dyno sheets to see the average horsepower and torque. I want to see what it looks like, forget peak numbers.
But really, forget hp all together, I want to see this thing with a few modifications hit the strip.

I also agree about the big torque from the new 14. I think kawi is purposely playing a game with the world governments by releasing a bike with a BIG real world seat of the pants improvement with a stroker torque machine, but still keeping the hp lower so it won't attract attention and get regulated. And since the speed wars are now over everybody looks at hp numbers for regulation.........
Perfect way to make a fast machine without freaking out world governments.....nice kawi lol

Yep all factory hp ratings are from the crank. It would make it easier to talk about hp if more folks were aware of that.....
And right from the official link in this thread we know that the new 14 and 10 both have 210hp with ram air. The 06-07 had 197hp with ram air from the factory, the 08-11 had 200 with ram air. We'll see how that extra 10hp and more torque from the new 14 works in the real world soon enough

I think its really crazy that guys on this ZX14 site are doubters like they are. There is no way you guys believe that the new 14 makes the same hp as last years bike which is stated to be 197 ram air assisted hp at the crank.
everybody believe when these euro mags showed pics and posted several stories about the new bike being a 1500 with a Supercharger!! They even showed pics and had quotes from Kawi execs stating it would be easier to put a supercharger on the new bike than to re-tool!
Its funny how fast we forget that these over sees info facts, rarely materialize here in the states.
Im going to announce this for everyone to hear.............THE NEW BIKE HAS A CLAIMED 210HP to the crank, and again I am stating that I BELIEVE that this NUMBER IS understated! I have the most experience of any civilian on the planet at twisting the throttle on the 2012 and it feels like 20 to 25hp more than last years 14 and will run .3 tenths faster and 5 mph in 1/4 mile at stock height and stock exhaust......
Is that enough 14 fans??

Thanks Ricky for giving us the real HP numbers. Is the 210 HP figure without the benefit of Ram Air? Ram Air typically adds 7-10HP.
Also, can you provide any feedback on the feel of the engine in the low-to mid range, especially compared to the GEN 1 ZX14?

Thats why I say that those euro numbers are wrong becuase strait up, a stroker 1441 making 119 tq at the crank is incorrect math-period. 195 rwhp busas with stock cams and head ALWAYs put down 220+ tq to the tire on pump gas at 1441. Yeah, CR is higher, but I can show anyone here 5 of em.

I haven't seen anybody claim the new 14 puts out the same power as the old, everybody knows it makes more.....the big question here seems to be is it 15 grand's worth more? But with a little patience we'll all know soon enough.....

You have to PAY to PLAY.... I remember when you could buy a zx11 for 6k as well as a GSXR for around the same price... but as technology increase and folks get greedy.... prices go up.... 15k is not a bad price for this plat form.... As Smokin stated when the price was revealed,"how many of you pay MSRP'? Not me, I paid $12,5 for my 2011 zx10 when others were still paying the asking price... I have already quoted 1k less from one of the shops I purchase from. I a m sure I will get this bike for around the same price.
Loyality is key.... there will be many looking but actually ready to buy in November
