The new 30% stronger bolts may provide more clearance for stroker cranks...?

Jim do you think can this engine be stroked MORE than the ist gen to build a bigger engine or is the stroke limited to about the same number?

Read the specs! 18lbs
We hear it will mostly be from the new exhaust, which for most of us means it won't actually weigh more than the '11 bike once an aftermarket system goes on.

Either someone passed bad info... in Wikipeda they posted Motorcyclist test on the 06 zx14, here they are:

60 ft.: 1.713 sec.
330 ft.: 4.349 sec.
1/8 mile: 6.447 sec., achieving 117.39 mph
1/4 mile: 9.783 sec., achieving 147.04 mph

So, does this mean that Kawi had a ringer for 06 or is the 2012 zx14 is slow, or is it the track? Just food for thought..... We all know that the 06 zx14 is not faster than the 2012 zx14

justoyz2, you comparing that to Rickey's times on the new bike? If so, consider which track. Rickey's runs were at altitude. I'm guessing Motorcyclist's test was at sea level.

SteveWFL, I've love to have one, but unless street price is like $4000 (yes, I meant to lose the leading 1) it ain't gonna happen.

Newly designed forged pistons with thinner crowns offer increased durability and less weight, and are cooled by a new oil-jet cooling system that pumps a continuous stream of lubricant at the underside of each piston.

Forged pistons? Harder rods? Ported and polished head from the factory, with bigger cams?

HOLY HELL.

I gotta talk to my dealer when he gets back. I've been doing contract work on his haul truck and he told me if theres anything he can do for me to let him know... I think i may have found something!

This is what I predicted yesterday:

posted October 09, 2011 09:41 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ok, here is what I think.... my prediction for the 2012 xz14

-bore/stroke we already know 84/65 1441cc engine
-47mm TB, used from the 2011 zx10 (wrong- 44 mm)
-cams a little larger than 383/358(lift 366)
-large buckets (unknown)
-larger vales(wrong-size didn't change)
-comprable head to supply ample intake charge for the displacement (unknown)

yielded horsepower result equating to .... wait for it.....
220-230 crank hp(unknown)
191 +/- to ground (unknown, but speculated)

not too bad for a Defender of the Opressed

Motorcyclist results are always corrected for altitude and density altitude.

The runs Rickey made were at altitude of 2000+ feet, plus it was around 100 degrees. I am anxious to see this thing in the hands of Brock and Jim.

EXACTLY!!!!..............they could probably could have got 7 horsepower from just putting bigger throtlebodies or upping the compression a little............all those changes HAVE to yield 20 horse's cause in this economy thats what it will take to get people excited enough to ante up for a new bike!!!!!!!!!!

Will a slipper clutch be bad for dragracing?...............or will it just add to the cost without giving any benefits fr dragracing?

I still can't believe they left the 44mm throttle bodies on there. But I can't wait to see what Competition CNCs 47mm units perform like on this bike.

I'm also wondering if there is alot of power to be had by modding the ECU?

I agree but that would seem to be a low hanging fruit "must do mod".............kinda like pulling the flies on the 06's was!!!!!

With a bigger motor i'll bet 47mm throtle bodies are worth 7-12 horsepower easy!!!!!

Well we don't know what it dynos in stock form yet, too soon to speculate. I hope not, I don't want a ton of stuff to mod when I do finally bite the bullet and get one.

But if you can hack the ECU you should be able to put different maps in and select them with the button on the handlebars. That would be awesome, street map, race map for N/A and a N20 map.

And if our collection of rear sprockets will bolt on since the new ZX14R has new wheels and a longer swingarm?
