The pistons are 6 grams lighter..... a revised spherical dish also....
The new 30% stronger bolts may provide more clearance for stroker cranks...?

Anyway here is my take on the new ZX14R so far ..
1441 love it ..
Better head and hand ported .. love it .
Bigger cams .. love it ..
Longer wheel base ..love it
Looks .. love it .. I think i'll take a blue one ..
Heat off the rider ..love it ..
New light weight wheels .. love them !!
Slipper clutch ?? The Jury is out on that one ..
Two cooling fans !! OH yes
All in all i like the hole package ...I like what Ricky had to say about the power and the MPH was compaired to the 2011 Busa .. I am worried about the weight listed ,seems very high to me .. My old zx14 weighted in at 505 with aftermarket exhaust and two gallons of fuel .. If there is a down fall to this new ZX14R it will be the weight ..
That new exhaust is BIG , Two big for my liking .. But if it has a good head pipe as claimed and pair of good slip ons will take care of that problem .. Looks like Brock has us covered with a full exhaust allready ..
Ricky said Kawi the claimed HP is 210 at the crank but feels that number is low .. Lets all hope that is true .. Kawi claimed crank HP on the 08 was just over 200 .. You can do the math ..
Now we wait till Brock or some other tunners get there hands on one and see what happens next .. Will we see a bike with bolt on parts bust its way into the 200 HP RWHP on pump gas ? My quest would be to take a stock ZX14R with nothing but a strap and lowering links and put the bike into the 8s ..I'm talking stock exhaust on pump gas .. That would make a big statement and a big win for Kawi ..

I'll weight in on the price .... Yup that is a big number !!! But that is MSRP ..I don't know anyone that has ever paided MSRP ...If the dealers don't come off the MSRP just wait , the price will drop in a short time as the bikes eat up there floor plan ..

+1 on the weight smokin, I want one of these engines uncorked and in my 475lb frame or one of these guys with a really light weight 14.

Yea it seems a bit porky..... I agree that the exhaust should save quite a bit.
The gen 1 units were rated at 191ps according to the manual, so that's about 187 hp.
Most of these bikes loose about 16hp to the rear wheel on a dj 250i dyno from the manuals stated crank HP numbers.
So the claimed 210 hp should put it in the low 190's on the dynojet 250i dyno and that would be with stock exhaust!!!
So with a pipe and 47mm throttle bodies? ..... lol .... this is gonna be good.

Hey guys the gave us everything we asked for and more , better aerodynamics , better looks , two fans, better cooling , less heat on the rider , Better rotors , More power, bigger motor , better head , bigger cams , slipper clutch , more wheel base Ect ect ect .. All these up grades came from us zx14 owners asking for them .. Kawi reads what we post on this and other websites .. I'm giving Kawi a high five for what they have done with the new ZX14 ..
I don't need some of the up grades they made for drag racing but they have to address other types of riders, street riders , top speed riders , twisty rides and your daily for fun rider .. I think they covered all the bases very well .. Us racers will toss the stuff we don't need and mod the bike to our liking anyway ..

Jim if it's low 190s kawi has hit a home run.. 190 means a light weigh skilled rider could run 8s at stock wheel base on pump gas !! Add some wheel base and go deep into the 8s with stock pipes ..Piped and Tuned mid 8s with a good rider ... 8s with stock pipes !! unreal !!

Jim,
How do you equate 210 crank hp to 190ish rwhp... I was told and found that 15% from crank will hit you about right on the drivetrain... but that's not for a 70inch bike; as you know the longer the bike the more drivetrain loss.
These are my thoughts on the HP issue, tell me what you think.....
If Kawi is claiming 210 to the crank, I don't won't one... by my calculation, that's equal to my 2011 zx10... 182 multiplied by 15%, (182 x 15%= 27.3), add (27.3 + 182 = 209.3 )
Now an 08 and above busa pulls roughly 172 (motorcyclist mag), Rg said the new 14 out mph a '11 busa by an avg 4 mph; theory suggest that a 1 mph increase equals to 5 hp, (4 x 5=20) (172+20= 192); (192 x 15%=28.8); (28.8+192=220.8) crank hp, give or take.... I think I predicted around this number yesterday...
This will seperate the two flag ships for Kawi.... 2011 zx10 unleashed is on avg 181ish, 2012 zx14 stock trim no mods should pull 19ish on an avg dyno... more importantly the tq will be the killer, lighter wheels should make this beast spin up very fast.....

It will be about 1.5 years before I hit my goal of 100,000 miles for my current 14, but I'm looking forward to riding the new 14, Daytona will probably be the 1st place I could do a Demo ride.

Lets do some math here guys ....
Rick went 147 MPH at Vegas the 2011 Busa went 142 with the same rider ... My 08 zx14 went 142 stock ( with a strap and lowered ) .. Rickys 2012 ZX14 was stock ( no strap, not lowered )
In my testing i have found that 10 hp is worth about 2 MPH track speed ... So the 2012 ZX14 is 5 mph faster than my 08 ZX14 and the 2011 Busa ( 142 Vs 147 trap speed ) .. So the New ZX14 is making around 20 HP more than either of the other bikes .. A 5 MPH trap speed is big ! If you don't believe me stand in the street and have your wife drive by you at 5 MPH ... Take a Gen 1 zx14 at 142 trap speed and race somone with a trap speed of 147 and you just got dragged badly .. That bike running 147 will be driving away from you just like your wife did ..
On my dyno a STOCK Gen 1 zx14 makes around 167 after break in .. If the gain for the new zx14 is 20 HP , give or take a HP or 2 , it should be making 187 HP on the same dyno .. Now add in ram air 197 HP .. Add 13 HP for a pipe and tune 210 HP .. That is more power than Roys 1530 made on my dyno .. Roys bike made 197 HP .. Add in 10 hp for ram air 207 HP .. Roys bike with LSR gearing ran 163 MPH in the 1/4 mile ..

Lets HOPE the rated horsepower is low.............wasnt the 2008 rated at like 203 from the factory.................I would hope all these changes would yield more than 7 horsepower. I realize its a better platform to mod in MANY ways but I was expecting at least 20 horsepower...........so I tend to believe Ricky that it may be underated from the factory.............we will see!!!!!
