Why is a multistage better than a single stage lockup?

Will a multistage lock-up improve the 330' with two stages of nitrous v/s a single stage lock-up?
If so how/why?

I wouldn't say it's better, just more adjustability... I my opinion, it depends upon the hourse power will determine which clutch is required.

-a bike under 200 hp a single will do fine, it's more or less saving clutches and reducing slipage.

-You can use what want, but alot of times, less is better..... the rule of thumb is keep it simple....

-I have seen folks by Hayes sliders, and didn't run any faster than when they had a multi stage, and the same goes for single to multi.....

I think you really need to know how to configure the multi to really work and realistly many folks don't.... THUS keep is simple

I used a 2 stage step up with stock spring to keep clutches in a cbr900 and zx12.
. worked great as both bikes had marginal clutches for drag racing.
Got a multi for the zx14 and finally set it up with stock springs. Got to find time and patience for play with it.

The multi will let you determine where the arms apply pressure anywhere in the rpm band where the single stage arms engage as soon as the pressure plate spins. Depending on how the 2 stages of nitrous is set up a multi would be extremely beneficial. If both stages come in first gear then some of the arm engagement would be toward launching and holding off tire spin and wheelies before/while the second stage comes in. The remaining arms would apply fully during the second stage. If the 2nd stage of nitrous hits in second gear then the multi really does nothing more than a single from that shift point on since all the arms should be fully engaged.

A multistage is setup(if it's setup correctly) so all you have to do is let go of the clutch lever. It's for consistancy and quicker 60's/330's

A single stage realistically only increases the amount of power you can run through the clutch.

There are tips and tricks to setting up a single stage so you can throw the clutch lever away, it can be functional. But it takes some time and knowledge in setting one up. A multi is better, hands down. That's why they're so much more expensive.
