Congrats. What you want to do with it will steer what things you'll want to change. For example, If you want to take it to the drag strip, you'll want to stretch it. I even took mine to the strip for a few months without stretching it.
Look around the board and you'll see guys changing all kinds of stuff.
Steering damper
stretch
gearing
lowering
full exhaust system
PC3 or PC5
oil pan or drain plug
throttle bodies
secondaries
The classified section here is a good place to find stuff too.

Sorry, if your going to lower it you need a oil pan. You don't lose enough oil to worry about. There are too many of his oil pans out there with zero problems.

^ I like this dude. Straight to the point. Is there a write up on this in a tech section? What are the average gains from this? Does this require a remap?

Congrats on buying the bike. You wont be sorry.
If you want to lower it, you will lose some cornering ability. I dropped mine 3 inches and I loved how it looked and rode, but I kept touching my exhaust in the corners so I just put it back up 1 1/2.
Figure out what you want to do with the bike and you will get a lot of good advise from the people here. I have 23 years of riding experience and I listen to these guys closely.

Well my current main purpose is to ride around showing off and looking good. eventually after i get used to it I'd like to try some drag racing. My main focus right now is to get rid of the ginormous factory cans and stretch it with extentions. So while I'm stretching it I'd like to know a couple of things.
1. Gearing. (do i change gearing when I do the extentions? I hear of -1 front +2 rear?
2. how far to stretch 4"? I'm mainly doing this for looks and( I guess launching ability at the track?)
3. Can I buy the 100 dollar extentions from ebay? recommended brand and size of chain and where to get extended chain gaurd.
4. Any thing else I should know about stretching?
Usefull info I am 6'2" and weight 280.

I ran 16/48 sprockets on my 07 with about a 7 inch stretch. Only have 1/8 mile track around here. Was right at rev limiter in 3rd gear at finish line. I haven't raced in about 3 years.

Moto, I wouldn't buy some cheap extensions on eBay. Just imagine if one of those things break. If it were me, I would stretch it longer, say 6-8" because it's easier to take links out of a chain than it is to put links in

What did you rin with this set up? What extension did you run? Is that much stretch street friendly?

16/48 is too much for daily riding....this is the advice i got from these guys, get like a 44-45 rear, 17 front on track days switch to a 16 front with is cheap $25,... thats what i do 17/44, 150 links stretch with is like 7in, lowered 1.5in...daily driven

I ran 16/46 on the street just fine. It turned high 5's in the 1/8th at 4-6k ft. Removing the flies takes remapping, but is by far the best bang for the buck that you can do on an 06/07 model. Brock davidson did a great write up about it and you used to be able to find the article on his website. Here's the list of mods i would do if i were you.

Spencer cycles or all things chrome extensions
16/43-46 gearing
New chain with press on master link
Spencer cycles adjustable lowering links
Osr cut oil pan
Tiger aluminum undertail
Rear shock reworked by Bmc or equivalent
Exhaust/pc/pull the flies
Front strap/ bracket
Extended chain guard

If/ when you're ready to buy stuff, you might put up a wanted add here in the classified section. I have bought a lot of stuff from guys on this board. Mine is about 7 over with All Things Chrome extensions. I ride it on a daily basis. I have an extra back wheel with a 43 tooth and a Shinko Stealth for the drag strip. I normally just leave a 16 tooth on the front. Used Brocks Street Meg, extensions, extra wheel, strap and brackets, GPR4, race filter, all from guys here on the board, and WAY less $$ than new.
