Turbo Kit
What turbo kit should I use for the street.I'm looking for realibity more then all out HP.Maybe 8-10 lbs of boost.Something that would live on pump gas with stock pistons and bottom end. Thanks in advance.I don't want to wait for a stock supercharger from Kawasaki thats a pipe dream at best.

Talk to Chris Jones before you spend any money.
http://jonesperformancecycle.com/home
I bought an ATP turbo kit from Harry.
the header did not fit, i had to ship it back.
The original had #4 cylinder exhaust spiggot, displaced 1/4 ", and the external wastegate would never have fit. It was not prefitted before being shipped.
The second one that he shipped me was still under tension when bolted up, and i had to modify it myself.
Stu , the other fellow I sold it too, got nothing but attitude from Harry, and a few others I know had the same experience.
Anybody who talks to me the way he did face to face would be eating their teeth.
I dont pay $$$ assholes if I can help it.
If you are gonna spend $$$$ on his, you would be better off to spend an extra $1000, and get a street kit from Chris Jones.
Chris has developed multiple kits, over the last 5 years, and he will sell you what you need with excellent service, and all the support you could imagine.
He races his bikes, tunes them and builds his kits.
Chris Jones is the only guy to deal with IMO.
And trust me, until you get it dialed in, you will need some support and assistance.
Just phone Chris and you will see what Im saying.
A total gentleman, honest, friendly, outgoing outspoken.
He has a street kit for $5000 listed on his website, with external wastegate, and I am confident he uses a reliable 1:1 boost referenced regulator and larger injectors,
...not an inferior 7:1 regulator with inferior stock injectors and resultant ridiculous, unsafe 100 psi fuel pressures.

Not to be an ass, but what do you know what goes on in my life?
Just sold a Gen1 busa turbo I built with Velocity stage1 kit , and begi 7:1
Made 264 HP and 7 psi boost, 95 psi fuel pressure
ATP isnt even a Begi, its an SPA regulator.
Muzzy, MR Turbo, Chris Jones, they all use 1:1 regulator.
Fact of the matter is there arent many fuel pumps out there that can sustain over 100 psi, and still deliver the flow... unless you spend $700 on a pump.
42 psi static, plus 7x9 psi boost = 63 psi
= 105 psi...
Not what I want between my legs, or in my face whwen looking at the fuel pressure and boost guages.
bigger bosch injectors, and 1:1 regulator if you want it reliable... every big name has told me the same thing I saw on the fuel pressure/ flow graphs for pumps...

Im not questioning your experience, but possibly methods, if your running oevr 100 psi fuel pressure at boost, very likely your losing fuel flow.

i'm not bragging ..fuel is not a problem ..in fact if you seen 1 my logs my A/F is dropping on a 1/4 pass on boost .. but then again i have an external fuel pump not that dinky internal bosch pump.. but this not about me the OP want a street kit ... and they all have problems.. but about the only thing i haven't had to touch is my regulator

no at low boost 8lbs or below some are great .. i'm saying better be able to work on bike or have a tuner for throttle response ...or have a friendly turbo shop around the corner .. turbo bikes are to finicky.. everything got to be right all the time or somethingf breaks.. or you put improved parts on like big injectors or turbo pistons.. then they become pigs off boost... the best i've found is bone stock everything and turbo .. off boost it still the old zx14.. on boost it flys..
i'd wait for a factory bike with warranty and supercharger .. if supercharged bike don't come out then try the kit route .. ask the turbo kit guys if they warranty the bike after their install..

Also as the owner of a turbo bike and several in the past, At first you will really like it. then when you get used to the power you start to notice all the imperfections that come with a turbo bike. If it's your only bike then in 6 months you will A: either buy another bike to ride on the street and blast the Turbo for short rides or track use. B: Sell it and buy another normally aspirated bike or trade it for one. Agin I coud be wrong. I am A. I would sell or trade mine tomorrow but nobody wants a turbo bike anymore.

this man speaks the truth lol i had mine about a year and im not gonna lie i loved it and it was a amazing street bike but its NOT what i was expecting, Ya it would pull harder than any bike ive owned and even on pump gas power would trap in the high 150s low 160s it just wasnt for me so i traded it off for a stock zx14 and some cash, and i couldnt be happier. And i had 2 other street bikes to ride at the time, i had a gen2 booza and a cbr600 but neither was a bike like the 14...

It's hard to beat the ride of a stock zx14!
I have a Cycle logic turbo, been pretty happy with it.
IF I could start over I'd run stock compression and stay with 4-6 psi.

Misconceptions of a turbo system. First off a turbo with low compression and big injectors will not be a pig off boost if everything is sized properly (turbo A/R, pipe sizing, Header design) and tuned correctly (injector sizing, mapping, cam timing). In fact a turbo bike done correctly will ride as well or better than a motor bike ( normally aspirated) and produce more power from 4000 rpm and up. The turbo bikes that I put together actually fell like a 1500cc motor bike when on a street ride even at lower rpm's. I use nothing but modern and efficient ball bearing turbos. If done correctly, you should not have any flat spots, or that two stroke powerband rush that is typically associated with smaller turbos. Smaller turbo come on with a rush and sign off just as fast. When done properly your power should be linear just like the feel of the stock bike, but with one big exception; The turbo will make horsepower/torque that pulls like a freight train. Not trying to sell you anything but facts. And yes I have the evidence to support them. Thanks, Chris Jones.

I have built four turbo 14s using the cyclelogic partial kits with great success. The last one I ride everyday and wouldnt trade it for anything. As with any build there is always room for improvement. On the other hand I have heard nothing but good things about Chris Jones and his turbo kits. The next one I do for myself will be a chris jones kit.
