supercharger

Anyone seen this weeks motorcycle news(UK) with an article on a prospective new zzr1400
With the same as the Rotrex unit that TTS used a couple of years ago, a few notes on what Kawasaki have been doing including patenting some details on prospective new 1400s or 1500s as it may be?
Roll on 220 to 250 bhp!!!

I have not seen the article, grinner but I have heard that story every year since 2008. Did they mention anything about using the supercharged Kawi water craft motor? That has come up every year too. It won't work.

We can have an aftermarket turbo or supercharger so We can have a factory boosted motor. looking at the turn the literbikes have taken in the last year, that is the only thing that is going to sell the hyperbikes. Hope they do it. It is going to cost us. I am sure it will be more economical to install your own if you already own a good 14.

If it's top speed that turns your crank, all that extra hp will get us just a few mph faster and add a considerable amount of weight. The acceleration we experience on a more regular basis would sure be a rush.

i have also read this in AMCN magazine recently. they say it will be a good power/performance boost without Kawasaki having to lash out big dollars on r&d for a new motor. they also show pictures of one or some of the patents Kawasaki has put thorough. Non intercooled is what they also mentioned.

Ill go back to the article when i get a chance an relay it back on here....

I am pretty sure you are not supposed to copy and in entirety and distibute(not that anyone would know who you are). I cannot see that citing /quoting the article would be copyright infringe---everyone publishes research. Credit was given to the source.

A supercharged 14 would be awesome, but I don't see it happening. Too expensive in todays ecocnomy, and overkill into an area I don't think kawi's willing to go. Besides the bike makers like to increase the hp a little every generation just to keep folks buying. They have the technology to bump hp a TON if they wanted to, but they don't want to escalate bike hp to the point of shocking the powers that be into restricting them any more. Plus they don't want to blow their wad all at once.....they want to be abe to keep us happy and on the hook with small gains every few years. They know once we got a taste of a huge increase we'd expect the same every time lol.

Well if you look at most of the new cars BMW,VW & Mercedes just to name a few, they all run small turbo's or super chargers or both, why not use this technology on bikes aswell, didn't Kawi have a 750 turbo in the 80 ties?
