I just looked at the osr pan, it looks just like the cut pan from bmc that im getting, Im confused because you said you believe the osr pan is 1/2" shorter than stock, and the BMC cut pan is 1.5" shorter than stock, but they look the same?? I just want to clear this up before I piss away more money lol
One more thing, BMC coats the pan with "GLYPTOL INNER COATING INSIDE OF THE PAN TO PROMOTE FASTER OIL RETURN TO THE SUMP."

If that is the case then they are probably counting the near 1" of guard sticking down. That can be cut off without cutting the pan. So using that terminology, you could say that my oil pan was "cut" 3/4" when I simply trimmed the guard off.

I don't think there is any need for any special coatings....but that's just my .02. I am not fond of coating or paint inside the engine. The exception to that is that I have heard some good things about coated pistons and bearings. But that is a speciality and a black art.

One thing I have found is that most people who have busted a pan have had their forks slid up though the triples. This means that the travel of the forks will extend well beyond the factory "bottoming" point.

4 oz is one theng...... but a 1/2 quart????? Never used a pan on any engine that had less oil.Spent some hard earned money on Larger oil pans for V8 Chevys :-) Hard to say but I would not risk a engine that will lift the front tire so easy in the first few gears. Wheelies makes it worse. I am not a expert on this topic, but common knowledge from seeing #3 rods kick out of the 14 engines I would not risk a pan with - 1/2 quart.
I could be wrong and maybe the company that does this has had no problems. I would ask Jim at CNC or some of the other Good Guys that build ZX-14 engines. Sorry 3000 maybe start a new thread on this and some 14 owner that has this - 1/2 pan will post up. You might fill the oil to the top of the sight glass to help and check the air box sometimes.

Just bought the Muzzy m14 with the polished oval Stainless can, I think its gonna look great on my extended candy red 14.. Best part? That would be the 649.95 price tag! The pipe is being made up at muzzys now and should be here in about 5 days.

Good idea on the m14. They make the same power as Brocks for much less. As for the alien head burning your boots/pants, never happened to me and I raced my bike too.

The alienhead burned out 2 pair of boots and melted my leathers. I had to get the Kevlar patch on my leg so it would stop.

Our pan is just about 1.5" shorter than stock (meaning a stock pan with full shroud) -- we only loose about 4oz -- not much. we don't coat the inside of the pan cause does it really help oil get to teh bottom faster?? I woudl say he did that to not copy us 100% but I don't know? We have sold them since 06 with 0 problems that have been reported other than some not listening and trying to run the drain tube.

The pan mod is pretty much a must -- whether done by us, bmc, adams or anyone else -- just make sure they do some homework on pickup design. I bet we have done 50 pans in the last month or 2 --- all coming in with busted drain plugs. its great business for us but a horrible design by Kaw.

You are both claiming to have been copied lol
As for the coating, idk for sure, but lots of guys have been using this stuff inside engines since gas was just cents per gallon with great results.

now thats funny --- we did my buddies that bought our very first 14 at our old shop -- he was 1 of 2 zx14s at indy prostar the other was mr. gadson -- I don't think we copied his idea -- i hadn't even seen or heard of him doing them til last year -- but whatever -- hopefully he is doing a good job with them and is keeping the 14's on the road and at the track.

If its a good quatity part, ill be happy regardless of who did this first. I figured someone here would have have bought bmc's pan? But looks like I may have been the first. Ill post up pictures and measurements for all to see when it arrives.
Thanks again OSR for the low price offer on the brocks system, that was the best deal ive come across for a brocks system.
