EBC Brake pad installation
Received the EBC 4HH front brake pads I ordered today. The supplier's website listed them as being the correct sintered EBC pad for the ZX-14. I was a bit surprised to see that the EBC front pads are designed so that there are two half pads on each side of the rotor instead of one solid pad like the OEM.
Did I get the wrong pads?

Don't know what you got fitted at the moment but those EBC are right. One pad for each piston. Whatever you've got fitted that's a "one-piece" pad is not OEM.

Thank you GREYHOUNDMOSES. I have never had the OEMs out but I have looked at the edge to check ware markers. It was not evident that there are 4 pads/caliper on the front. Also, we do not have the two disc shapes on the outside of the caliper like the ZX-10 which suggest the dual piston caliper. I had always assumed the fronts were a solid pad on both sides like the back----and when I saw the new pads were split, I suspected they were wrong and was not about to get into the job of removing the OEM pads.
We have a dual piston caliper on the front also and that is the reason we have 2 pads on each side of the rotor. Just a misunderstanding on my part. Thanks so much for setting me straight.

The general impression i got from the thread I started a while back was that they are about the same. I test rode the bike tonight for the first ime since installing. For the mostly gentle riding I did tonight , they about the same as OEM. The initial bite may be smoother and gentler than OEM but that might well just be because they are new and the OEMs had 28K miles on them.
I think if you are accustomed to the OEMs, yu should have no poblem using EBC HH pads.

They wont last as long but will stay cooler and wont eat rotors as fast . Huge difference if you use them in wet conditions .
