Sound and insulation of the Chinesse farings.

I got them fitted, had to trim a few area's, make a few holes bigger. They do not come with any of the sound pads or insulation on the back side of the side farings like the factory ones. So what I did was I went to my local hardware store (Lowe's) and bought a roll of foil covered insulation and a small can of contact cement and a brush.

Next I laid the farings out with the backside up and cut some sections out. I used a marker to trace out the patterens and cut the pieces out. I them glued them on with the contact cement. I covered more than the factory does. You can't see it when the farings are on and it really makes the bike mechanically quiet. Plus protects the farings from heat.

I have it all put together now. It's not a show bike but looks pretty good. I ended up using a stock tail that I had a friend paint black. The Chinesse one did not have anywhere to mount the tail light. It would have been fine with an undertail kit but I am running an aluminum undertail and needed the stock Tail light mount.

The 850 Polaris is very fun. But it will get stuck. The defenition of a 4 wheel drive is it will get you 50 ft. further in the mud. Here are a couple of pics of the bike with the farings back on insulated. It makes the bike so much quiter. You can hardly hear any of the engines machanical noise. I hope to take it to the 1/4 mile next Saturday. Looking for some high 8.20's out of it. not bad for a bike built from parts sourced from E-Bay and motorcycle Web sites like this one. Total spent so far is $5742 in the bike. Only bad thing is it's a 99-07 Busa and everyone and there brother has one. But that's what makes them so cheap to build.

Hope they stay together for you, I was looking at a set on a gsxr-1000 & they were separating on the tank & around the headlight at the bends. Truly garbage.

my wife has a set on her 600rr...they look nice but are very brittle and break easily. I did have to do some modifications to install, but nothing major. Can't complain for the price, but just not factory by any means.

Mine wer injection molded ABS plastic. The gaps and finish are not to bad. It has the 10 ft. rule. closer than 10 ft. and you can tell there not factory. They didn' blow off at 177 mph in the 1/4 though. So far so good.
