Congratulations to Roy for building the bike and Ali for riding it and to both of you on the new record.

Roy, thanks for letting me make a few runs on it so I could get my A license at 207 MPH. That was a lot of fun today.

Way to go. Looks like it was one of our records. 220 is so much better than 219.9 (I mean that in the sense that each ten mph is a barrier). Keep tuning. LSL

Thanks.....we had to go after the softest record :-0 ....the motor is going on 2 full years of abuse and it is showing its age.

maybe after I freshen up the motor we can see if it picks up a little more.

95 degrees, 95% humity ....just miserable... return road was converted to an afgan simulated training area.... what a mess. I didnt see any shell casings on the track , but I bet they are out there .

In a couple of years no one is ever gonna believe that anyone was crazy enough to run there at speeds over 200 mph.

Wow what a great time! Typical hot and humid June Maxton meet. Roy's 14 has so much torque that harnessing traction is a challenge. He worked hard to iron some electrical stuff. We got a stickier tire on there and that really helped things in the early gears. Of course as some racers know nitrous can be a little tricky to get right in terms of tuning and repeatability so you have to really have your ducks lined up to understand what direction you should take...how much is too much....how much is not enough, yada yada.

Roy made the first shakedown pass....I made the following 4 or 5 passes speeds ranging from 207 to 214 or 218 (I can't remember) till we finally went 220.6 mph. As I was getting my time slip I looked at the flag (which is where you get your time slips now that they've moved stuff around at Maxton) and the flag was blowing a direct headwind....maybe i had a direct headwind at the end but on almost all the runs I had a crosswind from the left that had me pushing the bike back over to the left side of the course so I could set up the 14 for the apex after the traps at the kink (left right left/out in out). As the day went on even the stickier tire we put on was starting to wear....long wheelbase, lots of power/torque and Maxton's lovely surface was taking its toll. I've had the same Supercorsa on my 12 for years but this 14 was eating this tire in less than a day of runs!

We ended the day with Rich jumping on afterwards to make some runs on motor and on spray....I'm sure he has the itch for torque now and it won't be long before he'll be going over 200 on his too I'm sure.

Much thanks to Roy and his wife for that good ol' southern hospitality. The food is always good and they treat you like you're family. As far as a builder and tuner I think he's proved he can put together a powerful and reliable package, relatively economical to boot and it makes things smoother and easier as a rider when I can communicate whats going on and have him understand it so we can corroborate on how to make the next change.

220 now has me craving that speed out of my 12.....of course easier said than done. Anyone got a couple Gs I could borrow and pay back at $20 month with 0% interest?

MadK, the turnout was remarkably low. There wasn't any waiting on the return road...if you wanted to run all you had to do was go to the staging lanes and you had no more than a few vehicles at most in each lane. Canopy for the front row of motorcycle staging was helpful...you know how it is....hot as balls and they want you in your leathers and helmet....only to just stand there because some 1938 rustbucket just had some malfunction and can't start his vehicle....or just oiled the track down.....or just had a wheel come off......or whatever......

Hope to see you guys in Sept/Oct.

I thought about breaking down and buying cams ... but I think it is pretty cool to go 220+ on a completely stock valve train ..

I should have time to port another head and see if I can gain something there. I was in a hurry last time I ported the head.

otherwise ,, just rings and bearings.

Dan, thanks alot, I had a blast. Heat had me off my game a little and I was in need of some sleep (ahem.....pattern.....ahem....) but it was stupid fun. We thought about making a couple more passes to bump it up a little since we still had a little left in the back pocket but after trying hard in the heat it felt good to run the number and get outta the leathers and let Rich have a couple runs. June heat & headwinds, ya'll didn't miss much. Glad we had something stickier to help tame this beast....I remember chad riding Greg's big bore nitrous ZX14 and lighting up the tire in 3rd....its fun as shit but sometimes got frustrating in April & May not getting the forward momentum I knew this thing was capable of.
