Dyno shootout yesterday

Yesterdays dyno day at the local dealer was interesting, my bike was the first one after the warm up bike,
Mine is an 08 14 with slip on r-77s, just cleaned and oiled bmc street, 5-20 mobil 1 oil.
No power comander, ( stock tune ). =156 hp.
Onthis same dyno for comparison a 08 zx6 bone stock made 96 hp, full exhaust 07 r1 with custom dyno tune made a scary close 152 hp, A bone stock 08 Busa made 166 hp and won the shootout.

I noticed my bikes rear tire kinda jumping around on the dyno when it was in the peak hp rpm range. But still, it looks like it's time for a powercommander and a custom tune.

I'd like to but that's going to have to wait a few months. A guy out of seattle who is well known for good work will dyno tune for 180.00 and make future adjustments for changes for 30.00. Does this sound like a decent deal?
I found a used pc3 USB off a 06 zx14 for cheap, but will it work on a second gen 08 14??

Ya it should work. Still if you Just save up a few more bucks you can get a used pipe at a good deal. I sold my m14 for 300 shipped when I got rid of it and I've seen a few others in that price range. Also HP on a dyno doesn't always mean the bike is gonna be faster. I just had my booza tuned and the thing picked up 8hp from stock tune and lost 3 mph on the track lol, I'm going back to the stock tune now lol

Yeah, my bike has one of the lowest peak hp out of our group, but my bike is the fastest out of the group of busas, r1's other 14's that peak 15 hp more than mine on this dyno.

Its been so long since I've ran at the track, I used to run at the angleton TX 8th mile, I posted my times on here but can't find them now.
Here in skagit Washington it's an occasional run down the old runway, or more often back country roads.

If my memory serves me correctly dyno tuning will get you good ballpark but really need your own bike readings to get you 100%.

I recently put down 168 horse on a dyno with a tskigui full exhaust and the restrictive baffle, and bmc race filter.I was hoping for a little more but we will see, I've been thinking of taking it to another dyno.

I wouldn't pay to have it tuned with the stock header. Wasting money. Put that money towards a used brocks and just use one of his maps. His maps are close enough for street riding.

I got the power commanderV, I heard dyno jet the maker of power commander got sued by CARB. The settlement was a big fine laid against dyno jet. So appearently one thing dyno jet can't tamper with is fuel mixing under 6000RPM . As a agreement with CARB.
So does that mean it can't be adjusted or dyno jet can't adjust the mixtures but any Joe with a lap top can or?

+1 oilfieldtrash (other Shane) lives near me. He had a Brocks AH and paid for a custom tune. It did not roll on any quicker then it did with the Brocks street map. I rolled on with him at 60 in 2nd gear several times. Save your money and get a used Brocks and install his street map and have fun. Don't pass on a Muzzy M14 either, I used one for several years. not much difference on the street. Fact is it had better low end torque under 4000 RPM(6th gear roll on's at 70MPH) but Drag Racers never see the difference on the track.

I called Muzzy and talked to Dave Turner ( I think) he mailed it to me free. But that was over 2 years ago. I purchased that M14 used from Shane661 Muzzy was cool with this .. used 2nd owner exhaust and sent a Free map. He even asked everything I had done to the bike so he could sent a map that would work best.... like he had several to send???

Nice, it will boil down to the best deal I can find, I will most likely buy new being that im overly picky about any imperfections or wear.

Will the pc3 usb for the 14 work for all years?

Yes their is a difference in the 06-07, and 08-up pc. I talked to a lot of people when I was swapping parts from my 06 to the 08 14.
