Mobil 1 5w20 syn car oil, what do you think?

I just picked up a 5 qt jug of 5w20 mobil 1 full syn car oil for my bike, with all this talk of lightweight oils to free up a few hp, and reading brocks posts about less than 0 and 0w20 for street riding on the 14, I figured what the heck.
I would appreciate any feedback or warnings on trying this. Stock motor, street and strip usage.

I thought you had to use motorcycle oil because of the friction modifier additive for the wet clutch?

Not all car oils have the friction modifiers in them. Many of us have been using car oil for a long time. 20+ miles of car oils and motorcycle oils in my 14, I tend to buy the best deal I can find.

Look in the manual, it's recommended for hot areas, like where I live. Never gets below 32 here and usually stays above 90 all summer. I run Castrol 20w50 semi-synth all year. At 34k now with no problems.

I think I read brock saying that these thicker oils "are just wasting HP" Not knocking your choice of oil, You I bet you could run super tech oil and still get 100k out of the zx14 with regular oil changes.
I just finished filling mine up with 5w-20 mobil one car oil and a new wix filter looking for a few more hp.

Just a idea, our Autozone and advance auto parts do specials every month. A different name brand each time. 5 qts oil and filter for $30. Mobil 1 is one of the oils.

WOW! When I changed the oil yesterday, I drained the oil within seconds of shutting off the bike from a 2 hour ride, I let it drian for 3 hours and installed a wixx/napa gold 1358 filter, it took 4 1/2 qt to fill it 3/4 up the window while ballanced upright.

I just looked up that a dry motor takes 4.8 with the oem filter, how the heck did all but 3/10ths of a quart of oil get out? The oil I drained was mobil one 10w30 with 2500 miles on it, I drained it out while still very hot and it drained almost like water.

Thay's why I run the 20w50 because it really thins out the oil in the summer heat. I change it every 3k & it is beginning to get dirty by then.

Im trusting in brocks recomendation, the worst problem from using these thin oils that I read of was a few bikes having clutch issues, but those were extream racing bikes. I have lots of miles on my 14 with no motor issues at all on thiner car oils, most of them in the Houston heat.

I change mine after it has been sitting a while. With the OSR pan it will takes close to 4 1/2 qts to fill it back up.
