there are "built" Busas, and then there are BUILT Busas.

Unfortunately, as much as i'd like to see the competition, no matter what the new 14 config turns out to be, it is very unlikely it'll be any competition for a BUILT Busa.

start throwing the rocks boys, start throwing the rocks...
(but you know it's true )

You will not run into BUILT Busa on the street, and you can see them from a mile away at the track. If a zx14 owner stays in his class he will rule.
BUILT Busa should watch out for BUILT ZX14, I know of one that runs 4.5s in the 1/8 (no bars, normal zx14 frame) and it is still being tuned. The grudge racing world will see soon.

Unlikely that this bike will be a worry for any Busa guys who really want to go fast. A 1441 is a bolt-on affair for a Gen 2 Busa, and the combinations are well sorted. The Busa brings a whole lot to the table with the 3-piece case design, relatively wide bore centers, ecu programming, aero's, etc...

But I am definitely intrigued by this new bike, and the potential it may have. Anytime the factory gives you more to work with, that is a good thing.

it seems like I read that statement in a magazine somewhere? but looking at the AMA record book I believe they were right. Most of the fast guys didn't bring a busa to the real street race they brought 1000 knowing that they would have a better chance there. so if you want to be technical the Harley is the faster Street bike in the world if you don't believe that just go down and look at NHRA Pro Stock motorcycle. so does that mean next time I go to the track I should be looking out for them Harleys LOL maybe the busa -guys- should sell their bikes and by Harleys they are faster! after all, we are just talking about a few dollars more aren't we? but in the real world and at the local track I think you will see that the 14 is King and after 10 -10-11 maybe even more dominant.

I look at a variety of venues...street, lsr, drag...overall the Busa just stomps the hell out of Kawasaki. When you look at the overall design, it is no wonder.

Now, I love my Kawasaki's...but I have them in spite of the fact that the Busa is a much better performance platform. That's a fact.

I hope to hell that the new 14 does stomp the hell out of everything else...with the displacement it should. Who knows, maybe I will buy one...I am sure it will be the bike to beat as long as you are not doing any motor work.

so are we talking street bikes are all out race bikes...?.as a percentage the number of people who buy bikes just to pull them apart and modify them is kind of low. sure we all like bolt ons... but bore, bore, stroke etc..... naw...

What would be so much better in the overall design? Cylinder head flow or that they have a huge aftermarket because of the name much larger amount of units sold. Don't tell me it's the separate cylinder so a big bore is easy to do?

When does a busa becouse something else? Just as HD, you can keep adding part to anything and make it faster. But what do you have in the end a busa a HD?... no. Mod for mod the zx14 is the best street/strip bike I have seen. Due to power, durable motor, clutch, chasis and brakes.

What is better about the design?

Cylinder Head, Cams
3-Piece Block/Case
Longer connecting Rod Length
Room for big stroker cranks
Billet blocks available
Frame design as related to turbo applications
Aerodynamics

There are a variety of other areas that make it a better choice for very high-performance applications. But most of the riders, as you say, won't be concerned with any of this stuff. The new 14 is going to be a 1441, and that will sell plenty!

I agree with Shane and RICH CRAFT 1 , Both are right .. If you are going to hot rod a bike get a busa if you are going to stay stock motored get a zx14 ... Tracks around me we rarely see a Gen 2 busa , But we see a lot of ZX14s .. The few gen 2 busas we see are no faster than the zx14s . Truth is 90 % of bike owners never touch the engine .. Stock for stock the zx14 has little to worry about .. The new ZX14R will get a few more Busa owners to jump ship and get a zx14 , these guys will be in that 90% that don't want to build a motor .. I'm in the 90% myself so a new ZX14R 1441cc is what i want .. I'll add a pipe and tune and call it a day , later if i need more power i can add a small shot ..
