Another thing that bugs me about Rickys post .. He said the new 14 was faster than the 2011 zx10 ? Well in stock forum ( out of the crate ) Ricky only went 10s on his 2011 ZX10 ... He went 9.60s on a stock ( out of the crate ) zx14 in 06 in Vegas ... So stock to stock the old zx14 wins.. So it should be no problem for him to say the 2012 ZX14 beats a 2011 ZX10 because the 06 to 2011 is faster stock to stock than a 2011 zx10 ..

To be fair, Rickey did NOT claim 184 HP box stock for the 2008.

With 2 miles:
after runing it idle for about 15 minutes I couldn't wait any longer.
Not expecting to get any good results from a bike that comes right out the crate, I made a pull anyway, and to my surprise 169hp popped up which matches the best average of the 06-07's.
On just the 2nd pull with 2 miles the bike jumped to 171hp

With 14 miles:
After heat cycling the bike several times I couldn't beleive it but 175.3 was what I ended up seeing with only 14 miles.

To clean up the a/f , I decided to try and lean it out by removing the air filter, and the bike responded promptly with 179.2 HP.

lastly I couldn't resist, so I emptied the tank and put U4.......just to see!

Forgetting about all who's fast and who's not noise............the bottom line.......at least for me is the New Zx 14 significantly faster and more powerful or not..........it either is or it isnt.
My litmus test is if it makes 20 or more horsepower I'll be one of the first in line to get it and it will be thumbs up!!!!!
If it makes 10 more horsepower or less it will be a disapointment and I wouldnt sell my paid for 2006 to buy one if they were giving them away for $8000 OTD

I agree .. A stock 06 to 2011 makes 163 SAE give or take a pony or two ... So if i see the new zx14 pumping out 183 stock SAE on a few different dynos i would have to buy one .. If it 10 HP or less i would pass ..

Between the two shop manuals, stats say same 114lbs. torque; only 1 hp difference between 06 to 011. So same here I have to agree. It can sit in the crate. Anything less than a dyno pumping out 200... I'm sitting out this year until 'that magic number' begins on the most conservative of dynos.

I get what Smokin14 is saying,look at all the hype around the 1000rr BMW , the hp they make on the dyno is scary,but on the road it is not that fast. It seems to me that all you guys are worried about is your drag times ,I am intrested in the whole pacage of the new 14,some of us actually ride our bike on the open road and do a top end burst now and then,that is the true potential of the 14 in my humble opinion.However I know RG personaly, had some great racing experiences here in South Africa & in the States with him ,all I can say is that he is NO bullshitter, If he says the new bike is faster then I believe him,what he said about the new 10 was spot on,we have one in the family, trust me the new 10 F...s off on the open road,we dont do Drag racing any more,but it should be better that the previos model as RG has proven.

I am glad of this discussion, it really shows who's who and what's what....
-Lee did beat me in our drag race no excuses there..... but we wasn't comparing apples to apples....
My focus was you guys back stabbing attitudes. We can agree that dynos vary, so rwhp numbers will be different. Rg is a bad as rider PERIOD.... non you guys on this forum will out run his times on the same bike. (i know, none of you said that you could), I was making that clear.
I tend to believe when he stated the new 14 will out run the new 10 was with mods completed. If any of you would take the time to review Kawi's history, this is how they do it, normally they wait two years to resperate the classes.
I ask that you all be patient.... hell many of you are not able to purchase a new bike right now, this bike will cost around 15,500.00. We will know for sure shortly.....

All you can do is laugh. A bunch of people posting about how RG is just a shill for Kawasaki, how his word doesn't mean anything,etc....but hey, it's nothing personal, right?
I wonder how many of these same people would pucker up and kiss his ass in real life?
Personally I don't care what the preproduction bike runs in the hands of an ultra-talented jockey. I'm waiting to see the specs and performance of the production machines.

I like Rickey, but when the 08 14 came out I was disappointed. Other then the flyes opening up quicker what was the real difference? Oh yeah the injectors are different and the stock exhaust is more restrictive. Anybody who owns a gen 1 14 most likely already had the flyes removed remapped with a high performance exhaust anyway. But really, my 06 is paid off and it will take real significant changes all around for me to let mine go. I am very excited though about the idea of a new machine for next year. I'm positive it will sell because of the simple fact that people do want the newest thing out especially when it comes to the speed demons.

I would opt to get one if it has a look I really like, even if it is only a 10 hp increase. It just depends on that for me. Same looking bike, no deal.

Maybe, but Rickey is testing the protype now. November might be cuttin it a little close, and who knows, is the bike that Rickey is testing gonna be the one in production, I dunno, so many questions.
