2011 ZX-10R ... no thank you! Did the ticket to ride this morning her in Atlanta... Given that I only got to ride on the city roads (did go up to about 70-80 at times) and it was the underpowered US version, I gotta say I expected a lot more of this bike given the marketing hype around it. Not sure what kind of "unlocking" they gotta do to it to make it really have some ballz but I know one thing pretty clearly - LOVE MY 14! And wouldn't trade it for anything else. I tried to keep the 10 in low gear and high RPMs (cuz of the sh*tty speed limit I had to be in 2,3 pretty much the whole time) and still weak compared to the thrill I get from the 14 .. once you get to the high RPMs it vibrates like a damn tin can. Not sure why anyone would want to do that to themselves really. Yea you'd prolly get leaner angles in the twisties .. or whatever else you could get with this thing.. but @ this price point .. no friggin way! they can keep it :-)

Well, that damn 10 pulled 162 mph with a slip on,flash and race gas. Ricky G, not exactly a flyweight like JT either.. I think my 14's days just became numbered..

MPH is great but ETs win races .. I would rather wait and see what a piped tuned, ecu flashed running on pump gas zx10 does in the hands of avg Joes .. The Zx10 may end up being faster than a zx14 with a pro rider that can handle the lack of TQ with his clutch hand ..Where as the zx14 has been proven easier to ride fast for most riders because of the low end TQ and HP .. Time will tell ...

Swingarm at 66 inches will help that problem, but I agree if both bikes are short to slightly extended. I would only get half the $$$$ if I sold the 14 compared to the 10 :-/

At this point of my life I'll take a torquey bike that will still run 9sec.

Swing arm at 66 inches does not make up for no TQ and even worse for a 180lb plus rider. nomatter how long the bike it still has the same 80 some ft pounds of TQ

Personally I hope this 10R does great. Of course it is not going to have the torque of a 14...it is a 1000! I think 1000's are a blast to ride at the strip. In fact, I first got into the 9's on Racheal's tired 2003 GSXR.
I was over 250 lbs suited and the bike at about 61". I ran a best of 9.91 footshifting on pump. 9.91 is nothing to brag about, but it moved my fat butt down the track good enough to get that 1st 9...and that is something you never forget!
With the proper setup I l believe that the 10R will fly with a decent 180 lb rider. You just have to beat the crap out of the 1000's and change clutches all of the time.

i got a freind with an 07 gixxer 1k (8.80's to 9.0's) and with 1000's of passes races every weekend with the stock clutch pack still in it.. proper clutch set-up is the key...

1000 clutches are tiny, and you usually have to slip the hell out of them....not many people would dispute that.
..hehe .. i said stock clutch pack ..
like everything else theres a fix ... call time hays. he can set you up with what you need to not burn clutch packs up in 5 passes ..

How would it not? It got the beemer to an 8.49 and 8.47. Dropping short times from 1.60 to a 1.35 and not fighting wheelies.330's to 3.7 seconds or better. The extended arm with gearing will drop the ZX10 5 tenths like it did the beemer.

I would not trade my 14 for a 10 either because they are very different bikes. I have both and I don't understand all of the critical comments about the 2011 zx10. The 14 is the smoothest and probably the best bike that I've ever owned. The 10 is more hard edged and designed for a different purpose. The new 10 handles better than any 10 before it and the new motor really works in the upper ranges. A $400 ECU re-flash - a muffler and pipe - and the new 10 really comes alive. The chassis and motor are both very good out of the box and things will only get better as the 10 is worked on and developed. My 10 is nearly as smooth as my 14. Kawasaki really got this 10 right.
