throttle bodies question...

hello, ive had my 14 for about a month now im a first timer here but been reading a lot of info in this forum, i think its pretty tight compared to some others...anyhow resently had a throttle plate misshap trying to remove flies so i desided instead of paying $300 on an ebay item rather to get mines bored my question is what could be the biggest i can go on stock injectors. appreciate ur knowledge, thanks.

What year is your bike? What engine mods?

The '06 & '07 injectors flow more than the '08's and up. Even though the newer one's have two more holes they are smaller. I'm thinking the difference is 80cc's or so.

Jim (Y2KZX12R) feels that with motor work, at least headwork, the early style would be better since they flow more.

I know that several folks have bored the stock tb's out to 48mm and a few to 49mm and are using stock injectors as long as no serious motor work has been done.

I've got a sock 14 with headwork and am running 47's with stock '07 injectors and all is fine.

Just depends on your combo how much injector you need.

thanks dan, well i got an 2006 stock motor just some bolt on upgrades, pc3, k&n, smog block offs, riffleman insert, d&d slip ons that came with the bike when i bought it. next would be pc ignition module, extensions and gearing.

im trying to keep it street so i went and got some price numbers: $800 bored 3mm over and custom map, $500 for one from ebay and installed, then they tolled me that for $250 they could replace the oem flap with the secondary fly flap wich idk if it would work.. any input would be helpful. thanks

I would suggest that your next mod be a full exhaust, and ditch the slip-ons.

Forget about engine mods until you remove your secondary plates, install a full exhaust, and remap. Brock's has exhausts and mapping that will work great out of the box, and save you time, money, and hassles.

that is one box on my to do list but... right now thanks to my incopetence in mechanical skills i accidentally drilled an 1/4 inch hole in my #3 throttle plate so am kinda trying to figure out what would be best on the long run... honestly i havent been on that saddle enough to be confortlable yet.
tho i read somewhere that the major advantage of full system is weight savings not much hp is that wrong?

A full system will give you as much as 10+ horsepower compared to slip-ons.

Just get a full system, a 4 into 1. Call Brock's or Muzzys and they can give you the details and costs involved.

Like Dan said, we offer 47 and 48mm throttle bodies. They are $530 for the 47's.

The 47's are good for your setup.

Jim, I'm curious why everyone seems to be going with the 47's...........are the 48's for BIG motors or is there a big price difference for the 48's?

The 47's are a good fit for engines smaller than 1500cc.
