Zx14 flies

Hi guys and ladies, my names Vic I have ones bike bikes all my life. My first street bike was a 1982 550 katana I was 16 . Then I got a 1982 1100 katana the kawasaki gpz 1100 rival . My first ride on a Kawaski was on a gpz 750 turbo, wow I was hooked. I couldn't believe how smooth it was compared to my 1100 katana. After that it was Kari all the way first , 88 zx 10 first year aluminum frame, then a 1992 zx11 to a 1993 zx11. So I just bought a 2009 zx14. The only reason I waited so long was the zx12 came out and I wasn't happy with the new mono cube frame, then the 14 comes out in 2006, again, mono cube frame dam!
So I through in the towel when I seen the burnt orange/ black special addition zx14 and bought it from a local dealer.
Now I'm thinking Muzzy 4 into 1 M14 oval as and power comander V.
Question: should I take out the flies? Extra hp for free, or am I asking for problems?

Up to you really, but you wont get much gain pulling them since '08 model reconfig.
Some guys still pull 'em, so if u do yank 'em, get her mapped

What do u think about the Bazzaza I think that's how it's spell it, it's a new power comander?
I heard the bike makes over 25 hp more at 3500 when it's remaped with the flies out. So your saying the 08 and up don't have the doggy dog take off with the factory ecu remaped by Kari so not really necessary to remove?

I have a PC3 on mine, havent heard good or bad things about the Bazzaz so cant elaborate there. But they should be comparable to PC's units.
Kaw reconfigured the secondaries cycle to open sooner, so there shouldnt be much of a difference between flies in or out on 2008 and later ecu's.......oh, and Welcome to the forum!

I'm really happy I found zx14.com and thank everyone for there info. Thanks Hellmutt for your info.
Question : why are people removing the flies and installing the TRE? Dosent the TRE control the secondary flies? So why install something that controls something that was removed daaa...

No need for a TRE at all. Just pull the flies, and get a map made for flies out. The TRE is obsolete.

Thanks, exhaust connoisseur. I'm thinking Muzzy M14, to bad gotto order directly from muzzy. What do u think? I really like the sound of a true 4 into 1. My other option without breaking the bank is a yosh M77. The yosh looks cooler but muzzy seems more a kawasaki performance specialty products. Yoshimura seems too me to be more commercial.

Vic, muzzy isn't a kawi performance speciality product anymore. This is Brockland.

The M14 makes great power, with great ground clearance as well. Don't hesitate to use one.

For your street use, you probably don't need to bother with the flies on your late model bike! But for the absolute best low-end power you will need to pull them and map accordingly.

Shane

PS. For the record, I have used an M14, Brocks's Shortmeg and CT, and a Brock's TiWinder...so I have some experience with these exhausts.

Shane's definitely got one sick bike built there, good basis for any fresh racer to follow so read the build. Vic, you made the right choice in bikes......this is just the beginning of a true companionship with your new pet

Hey vic, welcome! I have a 2008 SE.....I have done tons of research and have found that pulling the flies on an 08+ is not worth the hassle for street riding conditions. Also, some people do pull flies as well as run a TRE....I laugh my ass off every time I read about someone doing that.
Your best options are to put on exhaust and map it. I have a bazzaz unit (including autotune) which has worked awesome for me. I would also add a tooth or two to the rear sprocket for low end power....much better than any flies or exhaust power increase.

Hope this helps!

Pull the flies for throttle control on any 14 and its just a better riding bike. The Muzzy is a solid choice on exhaust, love mine. Try Lyn at Star Cycles for a killer price on your Muzzy needs. 1-800-990-2453

flies got to go ? Well that's one modification that doesn't cost anything other than remapping which I got to do anyway with the M14 Muzzy 4 into 1 . ignition advancer and high flo air filter , As for the power commander, it's ether the dyno jet or the all new bazzaz unit.
