Changing sub-frame idea
OK,
This may seem like sacrilege, but I want to change my 14 look a bit. I'm thinking of a zx636 subframe, rear cowl and seat. I'll also change the profile of the side fairings a bit.
Here is what I'm talking about, please excuse the hack job at melding the parts.

IMO tail looks good but I don't like the side fairings. but if you could get the tail mounted it would look good . kinda like the guys that put the gsxr 1000 tail on the gen 2 busa's

Nice Bike! Lose another 8 lbs. by removing the right rotor/caliper. Mine has been off for 5 years and I have never looked back.

Thing is you can mix and match any bike and it comes down to what you the owner likes. It's not that hard. Here is the 4 wheeler project. Yamaha Raptor 660 with a 06 GSXR1000 motor and electronics and the subframe and tail section on it. It's not finished yet. no time.

Holy Shit that quad is going to be scary as hell, best kinda fun! Looks mean!!!
I'm trying to go for something that will make the 14 look lighter (should be lighter too). The problem I'm having is to make the correct choice before ordering the parts...

The best way I have found is to use the factory subframe mounting tabs. Cut your subframe or order a used one off of Ebay. Bolt on weld the new subframe to your old subframe tabs so you can take it on and off or change it back to stock if you want. do not weld a different subframe to your frame. You can also make your own mounts if you like.

Big_T, I agree with your plan. I'll force whatever subframe I decide upon to fit the stock 14 tabs. I like having the option to go back to the stock look with minimal pain.

I think I'm going with a gsxr 1K subframe and rear cowling. It seems like it'll be an easier fit, and I like the look..I think.

I went with an R6 tail section and custom subframe. You will have to plan carefully to fit the tank, and pump assembly behind the new sub frame rails, use a different rear master cylinder resevoir, and its a bit of work stuffing all the electronics, regulator, and bulty can bus wiring into a smaller tail section.
The bonus is I did loose about 23 lbs with a solo R6 modified seat, and custom subframe
