230rwhp naturally aspirated. How do I get there?

My best friend bought a 2010 ZX10, with a basically every bolton mod possible done to it. He walks me pretty good. Seeing as how I can't let him beat me in the straights AND in the corners, I'm gonna do my long awaited engine upgrade. I figure it will take me 230rwhp to beat him (he's skinny and his bike is anorexic. Me and my bike are neither of those. 250lb+ weight difference). 230rwhp on pump gas 92 octane.

I'm thinking 1500+cc short block, fully ported head & matching cams, and maybe a throttle body upgrade will do it. Maybe.

Sooo, this is where you all chime in. Shop recommendations, aprx. cost, specific mods you would do, etc. I thought long and hard about doing a small turbo build, but just can't sacrifice the cornering clearance and mid corner throttle stability that I feel a turbo build would impact.

Ace Performance built that 2x2 that put out about that horsepower. I know that is the route that I would go if I had the cash.

You could put a small turbo without messing with ground clearance. I've seen them with a full exhaust still on.

That would probably be the cheaper option. 5psi could make that horsepower or a little more.

Figuring on a $4-5k budget. Really wanted to keep it naturally aspirated if possible, even though the 14's don't have near the build potential as a Busa I thought it should be still doable. Maybe I'll have to settle for 215rwhp and a more basic build?

Any pics of small hidden turbo builds? Quick boost, no over 5,000rpms lag? Full exhaust like mentioned by eklipse?

Keep the ideas coming guys!

These guys have a turbo that you can run an exhaust on, around $5k.

How about a supercharger?

Not available for the zx14... yet... but I've been in touch with Dan, the owner/ fabricator at A&A... if he has 10 buyers for the kit, the zx14 will be the next one he does.

BTW, Sticks... we gotta get together... I owe you a bottle... blew up my '06 before we battled for the crown.

I'd be all over that if it was available!

Sucks you blew up your bike, but if it makes you feel better you still would have lost. My bike is a dyno beast, not yet beat by a stock displacement bike yet- and only 2 big CC hayabusa's have beaten it naturally aspirated... one of which went home on a trailer after it started smoking on the last pull.

Krukov (Tony) was the guy who got me back into riding after I was out for 6 years: one very talented rider! I was able to keep up with him easily when he had his built 636 by simply closing whatever small gaps got between in the corners by powering down the straights. Now on his equally built ZX10 when he turns up the wick I slowly fall back. I hate falling back.

Ahh, was wondering if he was still around. I got his site favorited now, looks like what I'm after, except I'll be on pump gas, not race gas.

I agree, I plan on going with the Ace 2X2 fairly soon........with 47mm throttle bodies it is good for 230RWHP.................your a big guy and could definately use the extra torque of the 2X2.........but if you are looking to stay around $5000 a 2 mil bore with head porting, cams and 47mm throttlebodies should be good for about 220.

I'm sure I'll be happy with 220rwhp for awhile, but you guys know how it is: as soon as you get used to and take for granted the power you currently have, you always want more. lol

How much do you and your zx14 wieght, what is your wheel base, how low is your bike, what is the lowest octane gas you can get for the pump, and what is your gearing? What is his gearing? I had about the same weight disadvantage v/s a very good rider on a zx10 (stock motor with bolt -ons v/s stock motor with bolt-ons)." I made him sell it" (his words not mine). I am tring to see if I can help you get around him without spending $5000. And if your bike is puttting out the most power on the dyno it may not be making the most power it can on the street. If it can be done on stock motor, I think your zx14 will live alot longer.

What ever size engine you go with... one of the head and cam packages from Competition CNC will get you on average .164 hp per cc of engine displacement with a zx14/busa/ or zx12.
Once you know the hp/displacement you want then we will size the porting to get you the most power for your combo and usage.

We offer 47mm and 48mm throttle bodies with our head and cam packages. A stock zx14 picks up about 6-7 hp from the 47's and built large cc engines pick up 2-3 times that depending on the build.
