Shane661: 14 Forks and Brakes to 12R?

Can I put 14 forks and brakes on my 12? I searched and got conflicting opinions....... sure would like to make the change over if possible.

14 Wheels, yes. Rear brake with minimal time and effort. Otherwise, I haven't tried the forks and front brakes. Rear wheel is a direct swap, although 12R has a smaller rotor. Front brake spacing is narrower on the 14, although axle and wheel spacing is almost identical....if not identical.

Hey Steve,

The radial mount calipers rotors and master cyl. are far superior to the 12's. That why the change........but it appears it may not be feasible.

What all ya got Charles? I've been flirting with putting a better front end and brakes on my turbo ZRX.

Gotta have a winter project!

Hi Dan,

I found a brand new set of 0 miles 08 14 forks, calipers, brake hoses, master cyl and brake lever. I think the upper and lower clamps, stem and bearings are available also. If this is too much of a project for my 12 ( it appears that way at the moment ) then I will go with Ohlins front and rear, BST's and Brembo stuff. I thought this route might be more economical, but it seems that is not so. I will let you know something right away.

P.S. This is my winter project......along with your Akra exhaust system and a 1270 kit. I bought this 12 new in 2000, it has 2001 miles on it and is "pristine". It never sat on the showroom floor............

lol........... I do get out and ride Craig. I just ride some of the other bikes more than this 12. I bought 2 of them and a Hayabusa in 2000...........sold the "Busa"............ I ride the 14 more than anything else.

I put a zx14 front end on Vmax, Imsure going to a zx12 would be easier.
The stems might need to be swapped but i bet otherwise a direct bolt on.
I know the zx10 and zx14 will swap over stem and all. same bearings even.

fork length and clip on clearance were the only issues
