Warranty dosnt mean shit

Finally got 3 technicians to agree something is wrong inside the motor and Kawasaki Corp tells them the clunk in the motor is normal, can believe that bullshit? So I had to lawyer up. The lemon law in mass is they have 30 days to figure out what's wrong and fix it. It's already been 30 days and techs don't have a clue what's wrong and nobody wants to go in the motor to find out. You pay all this money for peace of mind if something goes wrong and now Kawasaki is trying to screw me out of fixing replcacing my almost brand new bike. Thanks Kawasaki for the warranty that dosnt mean shit to you. Lawyers tell me replacing my bike or refunding my money could take weeks or months depending how cooperative Kawasaki is my guess is months SOBs. Good luck with your kawaski warrantys hope you never have to use it.

I know some the 06 and 07 have a clutch basket noise but if your is an 08+ that definitely not normal. But I'm guessing you have an 09. My '07 has a knock on idle but shop and dealership says it's nomal and they wouldn't cover it. So far no problems at all.

is it a clunk when you shift into first gear from neutral? or clunky shifting from a loose chain? If it's the knock knock knock on start up then It's completely normal and some 08/09's do it as well.

The clunk happens when the clutch is fully engaged and your driving hp to the rear wheel. The techs at the local Kawasaki dealership said that it's not normal it's Kawasaki saying they think it's normal without ever sending someone to test drive it. They are in california, kinda hard to understand what the bike is doing without ever feeling the clunk from the motor. It's obvious to everybody who has rode it that something is wrong.

The bike is ridable but you have to not stress the motor out in first gear so you can't ride the way we like to I think that's why we ride 14s and not 250s no what I mean.

It may take a while for them to pony up the repair, got a buddy that shattered 3 valve springs on his new Gix600 - was at the dealership for almost 6 months!! They finally got warrant coverage and he threw in the extra to fit titanium springs.......sometimes these guys will do whats right if u make a big enough deal of it

I brought my 14 in for the CCT while I was on vacation in October. When I returned to pick the bike up they said that it does not make noise long enough for them to warranty it and its considered "normal" to make noise for 5-7 seconds on start up. Come on!

that sounds like the hydraulic timing chain tensioner. Which works off oil pressure to tighten the timing chain. on cold starts the oil pressure does not get to the tensioner quick enough so the timing chain rattles. ZX12 worked perfectly it was mechanical I don't know why they don't go back to using them. Ken

that is perfectly normal on 06/07 bikes. Mine goes for about 5-6 seconds on cold starts.

Matt, just curious....
Is it the original or extended (Kawi Good Times) warranty that you are having problems with?
Reguardless, sorry to hear about the BS. Hope Kawi pulls their heads outta their asses and remedies the problem for ya.

I'd ride it in a normal fashion. If something breaks then they will have to fix it....

There seems to be a bit of information missing here.
It almost sounds like the guy has not taken the bike to a legit dealer.

Most dealerships with certified mechanics, would actually listen to their "lead" tech if he said there was a problem.

I think it's a bit to soon for everyone to jump down kawis throat just yet.

About the techs, one guy has twenty years exp the other has 8 still no balls or confidence in their own ability or they would have told Kawasaki this clunk is not normal and they should do something about it now. If this tranny locks up and I crash I am sewing their shop and kawasaki for not taking this more seriously. Granted I prey that dosnt have to happen but I feel like I have to ride it cause I am paying for it. I appreciate all your input and I will post the results of my lawyers efforts. Oh ya I did purchase every possible coverage for this bike even tire coverage. Happy Thanksgiving and safe riding. Wish me luck.
