Finally In the 9's!!
I FINALLY DID IT!!!
i made a total of 25 passes tonight at my local track. I finally started listening to myself and doing things the right way. At my local track you have to have a NHRA license if you run 9.99 or faster. I got kicked off the track after my Back-up pass.
My first best was
R/T........ .376
60'.........1.627
330...... 4.259
1/8...... 6.395
MPH... 114.79
1000... 8.268
1/4...... 9.939
MPH... 135.04
I totally missed my 3-4 shift at the big end of the track on the above pass. Everything else was right on track until i screwed it up. But i will take it, no complaints...
My Back-Up run was...
R/T......... .449
60'.........1.648
330...... 4.314
1/8...... . 6.489
MPH.... 110.71
1000.... 8.373
1/4....... 9.974
MPH.... 139.33
I have not made any changes to the bike since my last track visit. I am still running the 16t Front and 41T rear sprocket. The Rifleman insert is on its way but not here yet...
I am going to try out a different rear sprocket soon and see what differences that makes for me.

Thanks guys! I was extatic when i finally hit my goal last night.
Now i am curious if i switch to a 43 or 45T rear sprocket will i be able to see 9.5"s or better.......
Curious....
Something else i noticed last night, I was getting a much better ET & MPH when i was shifting at 10500 versus shifting at 11K. I felt the bike was alot more solid shifting a little earlier. I tried a few passes shifting at 10K and did a little worse than at 10500. Just figured i would throw that out there...

Patrick: CONGRATULTIONS!!!!
I have to stretch mine NOW. I have been contemplating it for awhile, but have not pulled the trigger on it.
Somebody help me out, why is his MPH still the same with the 16T sprocket?

Thank you to everyone for the comments!
quote: Patrick: What is involved in getting the NHRA License?
Nick,
I know you need to get the paperwork and complete it along with getting a full Physical at your local doctor. 6 passes are needed to complete the process and have to be done in order and have to be signed off on by current NHRA license members. You also have to maintain an NHRA membership.
The costs as i can see so far without calling someone are...
$50.00/year to keep the license
$128.00/2 Years or $69.00/Year to be an NHRA Member
you can access the forms needed with instructions here...
http://www.nhra.com/contacts/forms/license_app.pdf
Also Nick My best ET was with a short shift from 3-4 so that killed my MPH. But i ran multiple runs at 10.0?? and 10.1?? at 139-140mph. Before i would not come anywhere near 140, i always fell just below. From what i could tell with the gear change upfront, It felt like it mainly helped me get out of the hole and get up to speed. I don't think i would gain much with just a gear change without a power adder of some kind. I think it just helped me maximize the power that i already had. Just my take from it though. (if that helps at all)

(if that helps at all). Everything looks right with your times except your trap speed looks a little low.. What's your R/T? If its high on an average (.5 or so) try staging a little deep. It helps.. I had an 03' GSXR1k when I weighed around 250lbs suited and it ran similar times at first... Then I started staging it deep and my R/T's were 002-003's with low 1.60's @ 60ft, 6.20-6.30's in an 1/8th @ 123mph. I needed some torque so I lost 35lbs and just rode it better. Eventually running low 5.70's in the 1/8th.. (Gearing)

I apologize folks because I don't know how the hell my post got mixed up in another post!... Blame it on the BlackBerry I guess! Anyway my post (above) starts with "Everything Looks Right". Very consistent runs... Skip a week or two like I used to do and get kicked until they get familiar with you and your bike. Then they're not going to let you near the track until you have the card. Get the card regardless!

Almost forgot -- congratulations Patrick!! Another thing you might consider is getting those mirrors off your bike on track days...........read on Brocks forum last year that it eats approximately 12hp to push those mirrors down the track - or something relatively close to that........but it might help you get to the 9.80's? Not really sure how much of a difference it would be, just remember what he'd printed about them.........."aero" quality in drag and LSR are equally important right? Maybe moreso in LSR...
Anyway - good job on getting more consistent!!

Thanks man!!
I have been thinking about pulling them off and throwing on a set of mirror block off plates. My biggest debate with that is i have to ride to my local track. I use the mirrors constantly on the road, so i dont really want to pull them off before i head to the track. Even though it is only 3-4 miles to my local track. I have to cross one intersection on the way to the track that i still hate with a passion to this day. (i had a dumb girl with 90 days of driving experience pull out infront of me when i was on my 1st bike. I flipped over the hood of her daddys mini van and by some strange freak of nature i landed on my feet on the other side and walked away. The bike was totalled but i lived, I still cringe when i pass through that intersection)
Now that i think about it that incident happened 3 years ago from this coming Saturday.
Maybe i could just take the block off's with me and remove them when i get there, but thats if someone goes with me as well. I dont trust leaving parts lay alone while im making passes.
Its a thought though.....

I understand.........maybe tote a backpack with essential tools and blockoffs.........would they let you wear a backpack while running down the track?? I don't know, maybe having a friend or 2 there would be better all around in case something happens or comes up missing..........I just noticed you still had them on in your avatar, and figured you knew - just wanted to throw that out there for ya man...........ANYTHING to go faster right?

absolutely! And they wont let you carry anything while running down the track.
Jenn said she is going with me this next tuesday as long as the weather is nice and they open up. Ill check around and see if i can pick up a set of block offs locally. I think i can get a set fairly cheap. I can carry a backpack and just have her hang on to it....
Hopefully i will get my rifleman insert sometime soon and get a light hooked up for some added knowledge for myself (Eklipse636 gave me an idea).
Ill keep everyone posted...

HAHAHA...
The rifleman insert is an insert that makes the throttle a 1/5th turn to WOT. There is a post on here talking about them and it shows install pics as well. It is a reversable mod as well. Ill find the link right quick and post it up...

. HELL NO!! "DO NOT LEAVE PARTS ALONE!!".. Hate to say it but bikers have some of the hottest hands! No tell'n how much crap has been stolen from me at the track! So I started pull'n my bikes in an enclosed trailer because they'll steal off of the trailer! Anything they see of use its gone! Had an asshole to steal a set of gloves one night and I couldn't make anymore passes on a test and tune night when I was REALLY test'n and tune'n!! Still upset over that one because we had a big race the next day at another track and they wouldn't let me make any passes that wouldn't count as a run and the bike ended up being totaled by a friend who was going to be my rider. ON HIS 1ST PASS!! Damn! Anyway...

Well, your MPH has improved by 5mph since you and I ran. (Before you got the 16T front sprocket. I think that is quite an improvement. I think you got 9.50's in that bike the way it sits.
