Throttle Tube Mod?
Has anyone ever tried to see if an R1 throttle tube will fit on the zx14? I am seeing that the R1 tube is 1/6th of a turn. The zx14 is a 1/4 turn correct? I am just thinking it would be easier to get to WOT with less movement if the mod is possible.
Any Input??

I had the r1 tube, but switched to the rifleman insert because it was less of a turn. Pita on the highway though

Patrick how would you like a free set of grips with a quick twist throttle tube? Look up Avongrips.com, their grips come with a throttle tube that has changable cams. One of the cams is for the Yamaha 1/5th throttle. It is a bolt in for the 14,and the whole package is less than $20 for the base kit. If you want billet bar ends its about $60.

The r1 looked the same as the stock zx14 one. I couldn't see a difference...so I also did the rifleman mod!

Guys, hope I can help and not voilate any board rules at the same time.
Yes, I make an insert for the 14R that fits inside the OEM housing and will give you a true 1/5th throttle (72' rotation between Idle and WOT)
Yes the R1 tube works, but it is not quite a full 1/5th, more like 77 or 78 degrees and it is also shorter then the the 14R tube so you get a gap between your bar end and the throttle tube... that and the rubber on the R1 will not match your 14R
this mod will retain OEM / Factory look and parts. It will reduce your throw from 91' OEM to 72. It is reversable. It has been performed on hundreds of 10R's and a few 14's with out problem.
If you have specific questions feel free to post them here or Email me directly.
If you want more info about purchase, Email me directly Rifleman@hotmail.com

I'm currently using a throttlemiester with the stock throttle. Will it work if I switch to the Rifleman?

Just my $0.02 here:
the R1 tube is a 1/5 turn
the R6 tube is a 1/6 turn
I tried both of them on my track gsxr and found out that the R6 tube was the right one for me as the R1 wasn't big enough of a reduction in twist to wot.
With the 1/6 turn tube I'm capable to grab wot (or actually as much as I need) without having to readjust my wrist whatsoever, which also allows me even more relaxed grip and precision of application.
