Wrecked my new bike need advice

Low sided on my way to work this morning. Cold tires and slick roads and a dumb ass rider attributed to this. Anyways I have a local guy I trust to work on bikes but I'm wondering if it would be best to take it to a kawi dealership. It's gonna need a new tail section and tail frame(don't know what its called) some plastics and I busted the damn oil pan(bike hit a curb). I'm hoping the bike cut off when I was sliding. I tried starting it for a good while but then I noticed the damn oil slick. Luckily I was about a mile from the house and I pushed it home. I don't have a trailer. I'm fixing that issue today. But anyways would it be best for a local guy or kawi dealership?

If you've got full coverage on it, take it to the dealership...........if you've only got liability, take it to your local guy...........sorry to hear about it man -- hope you get it up and running soon

If you are going to use your full coverage insurance, take it to the dealer for an estimate first then
let the local guy fix it with cheaper parts. There are a few places and used parts around if you ask.
The tail frame is called a sub-frame. GL

if it has any damage to the frame at all (I.e. scratches, gouges, etc) the insurance company might total it. Regardless, you're paying a deductable on it so I say let the stealership do it so that if something ends up being wrong with it you can fuck them over instead of your buddy.

If you don't have full coverage, and decide to fix it yourself, let me know what parts you need. I've got a highly modded '09 and lots of parts. (bobnarrow@comcast.net)

The insurance company will most likely push for totaling the bike IMHO.
The subframe and oem plastics alone are probably close to $3K in the oem parts fische.

An aftermarket subframe and a race set of plastics and you get yourself a track only weapon,
clear title too if you decide to sell down the road.

I remember you traded the 14 in for a 6r for track riding and I warned you that crashing at the track is just a matter of time, happens to all of us on regular basis.
Crashing on our way to work is not something we accept as an option wholeheartedly though.

Not that it'll help you feelings right now but while I was in the market for an oil pan I would put on a low profile pan. If you have or will lower the bike any in the future the oil pan is an accident waiting to happen. Granted, I'm a fat ass and I was on the track when mine bit me but take a fools advice and take the oppertunity to take care of it now while it's convenient. jes my .o2

+1 on taking it to dealership and getting estimate then fixing it yourself or your buddy if possible. You can save a ton of money that way

If they total it, negotiate for a higher number because they are going to try to low ball you at first. Then after you agree on a number offer to buy it back and then you can either fix it or part it out and fund your next bike. good to see you didnt get hurt.

I'm SOL as far as insurance. I only had liability on it. Guy said it probably only needs a new oil pan and it probably knocked a sensor loose. So I'm just going to scrounge ebay for plastics. Thanks for all the advice guys.

Crashes happen unfortunately.
Keep your head up and fix her up quick.

This is a great chance to start replacing busted up oem parts with aftermarket goodies IMHO.
For the track get all the sliders there are- on both axles, frame and swingarm and also aftermarket rear sets with fixed pegs.

My track 750 has been laid down more than a $20 hooker,
still hitting the track as often as possible.
