Ever thought about leaving MR9 in your bike?

Anyone running race fuels should be fogging the motor after the race.
Rust starts within a few hours and will ruin your rings and cylinder walls.
Get it out of the tank as well, flush it and fog it with pump gas.
We get customers coming in at the beginning of each race season with low power problems. The engine sat all winter without being fogged and is all rusted up.
After you see the damage and have to spend $$$ to fix the bores and new rings etc. you remember to fog every time after that.

I ran pump gas after each race. Those plugs were clean when they came out of my bike. I took them out and put them on my work bench. I just noticed how the metal on the plug was rusted where the fuel came into contact with it. I could just imagine what that would do in a motor in a week.

That makes me nervous... I put the gas in Friday afternoon and just drained it out... Sunday morning.
So if we are at a 2 day event I need to drain it out every night, and refill the next morning?

I used to drain it, run the bike until it shut off and then add pump with a little Lucas. I would let it run for a while with the pump. That MR9 will clean the engine components very well but I don't think it has any lubricants in it so that's why I would use the Lucas. You should have noticed your bike smoke when you put the MR9 in because it cleans super well. It made mine smoke at wide open throttle every time I switched back to it.

i use marvel mystery oil a cap fuel per gallon .. i don't know if it helps or not ..

Lucas oil fuel additive and marvel mystery oil are both good ideas for the last tank or 2 before winter storage - if your drag racing the bike only, i would follow the manual recommendation of running the fuel system out then pulling the plugs and adding a shot of motor oil to each cyl, then turning the engine over a few times to wipe it around the liners and rings before storing the bike

Motor oil dosent offer any long term protection. It runs down and leaves the parts dry.
Motor fog is designed specifically for this purpose and will coat and then stay on the parts. It also has extra acid neutralizers to prevent acid etching etc.

Who makes the motor fog? Is it simply a top cylinder lubricant? Sorry, just never heard of it
Lucas Oil also makes a top cylinder lubricant, but I'm assuming it works along the same lines as Marvel's product.

Maybe running a small amount of Redline SI-1 Cleaner along with it will help? Ive heard of guys add in some ATF to race fuels to add as lube/protectant.

I bet ATF will make it smoke pretty bad. Maybe after your done racing the bike.
