Series of events, bike in shop, and reason why a person should always try and get an extended warrenty the 1st year a vehicle comes out(bikes included)

Well let me first start by saying that living in Michigan most of my life has taught me that when a new vehicle comes out of a company, always get an extended warranty.

About a month ago I was on a back road by myself late night and decided to give my bike a speed burst, began in 5th, round up the rpms to about 10,500, shifted to 6th, round it up but noticed the bike bogged down in the upper rpms. I brought the bike's speed back down and repeated the steps but the bike bogged down in 6th again at higher rpms(approximately 10,000 rpms). I was traveling so fast that I needed to keep my eyes on the road.

10 days ago, I started my bike and went to the local Block Busters and on my way I heard a loud knocking sound so I pulled over. Upon idling- no noise! Turned the bike off restarted and the same thing happened, so I took the bike to the dealership(1st time my bike has been there since the 500 mile oil change). Well since I purchased the extended warranty, they will cover the work, part and perform the Recall notice I had(remember the frame stress check).

I called today and they stated that they believe it's the Cam chain tensioner that failed but a Kawi rep was going to come to inspect as well.

1st question- why would my bike bog down in 6th gear at higher rpms(I have a 16/43 setup with Speedo)?
2nd question- I know that some hear had to change their cam chain tensioner but could this be from using Rotella T6 or was it just sh*t happens?

Also I might add that my bike would "rattle" only for a few seconds upon start-up and then quiet down to a purr. And I know that I should've taken the bike in when I got my recall notice and the buzz around here was high and people were frustrated but I didn't want anyone touching my bike. The Dealership that put my bike together didn't even tighten all of the fairing screws! Thank goodness for warranty!

Any advice if applicable is much appreciated....

Geez I'm retarded today. Well I know after modding my CCT so it's now manual she's never ran better. The top end seems better too. If yours was really bad perhaps it altered the cam timing to the point where it bogged....

I'm bringing mine in to the local Kawi dealer at the end of October for the CCT since it rattles for about 15-20 seconds at start up. Service manager was pretty cool about it and he said my extended warranty should cover the replacement. We will see.

i recently had the same problem with mines. now mines in the shop waiting to be taken apart. with the exception mine i was riding it bogged i start losing power. so i pull over and it just kills. start it up after 10 minutes and it sounds horrible and kills. it literally sounds like a chain is off inside the motor. my question is is the engine gone?

Might of jumped a tooth or two on the cam chain. If it didn't get too far off time the motor should be fine. If it is way off you could bend a valve.

Na, I got them powder coated Sparkle Black! Man they look REALLY nice! Even did the Vortex sprocket and powder coated the mounting nuts Sparkle Blue to match the bike.

Of course I had to get a Shoei helmet as well
