NOT SO LOFTY

Hi everyone
I've been looking around for a super torquey bike to replace my aging GSX750F. I have test ridden a 2007 Busa which was nice, but a little to big/low bent over riding position. Dont like the new VFR1200, straight sports bikes like the GSXr1000 etc are all too dedicated in their riding posiiton. I recently test rode an 06 ZX14 and fell in love. Felt light, great riding position (would probably put a set of heli-bars on it - although it doesnt really need it), BUT I was hoping it could pull low rev power wheelies, but I couldnt seem to get it to rise to the occassion so to speak. As the top end is not something that I am going to be able to enjoy all that much (cant afford to lose my ticket), has anyone geared the bike up to increase low end tourque???? Really love to hear any advice - I am really close, the only other runner is the BKing, but I dont like its appearance and really wanted a full fairing machine.

Cheers guys

The Saw

Pulling the secondary flies will completely cure you're problem, and give that 06 14 all the low rev wheelie pulling power you'll ever need. Do a search on this site for pulling secondary flies, or wait for some of the tech guys to come along and explain more about the process to you. Its easy and I think should be the first thing done to an 06-07 14.

Very true!!! What they're talking about is a second set of butterflies in the throttle bodies that don't fully open up until you get past 6000 rpm's I believe. Take off the gas tank and remove the access plates from the top of the frame and you'll see these pesky "flies". Take them out (a good magnetic tip #2 phillips screwdriver will do it) and get a power commander with the proper map and you will be riding a completely different bike! Throttle control will need to be learned. It will have so much more low end grunt, you will be very surprised!

Dusty if you just change sprockets you don't need to remove the flies especially on 08 and up 14's. Oops sorry zx14fan I couldn't help myself.
