gear indicator wrong

I'm currently using 16/44 gearing with 1 corner of the sprocket nut rounded. my gear indicator always seems to read 1 gear too low. last week i think I hit the speed restrictor (152) when the bike was in 6th gear, but the indicator read 5th. on the highway yesterday the bike would read 4th or 5th when cruising in 6th at 5K RPM. has anyone else ran into this? what's a possible fix? removed my healtech because it was making my bike surge

It is a known issue. I don't understand why the ecu doesn't just use the output from the gear position sensor...it seems to look at rpm and speed for the display.

what's the top speed on 16/44? I checked the gearing commander sight and it doesn't seem to be right. It says 153.5 in 6th gear. Would a tre that locks the indicator in 6th help?

I don't think you hit the speed restrictor. I'm running 16/48 and I can do a actual 150 and not hit the restrictor.

So if I grind the speed restrictor nut my gear indicator will read wrong when I'm done, damn. I hate the extra miles the speedo is getting with 17\43 and was fixing to do this mod,but now I don't know.
