1388 mile weekend.

This past weekend I left Cincinnati OH, riding to Arlington Va and as fate would have it something rolled up and hit my radiator putting 3 or 4 small pin holes in the fins. Luckily I had just stop for gas and had not got back on interstate yet. I was right in front of Bethesda fire department in Bethesda MD. Had to call tow the driver did not know how to strap bike down so I had to assist was able to get bike to hotel where I had reservations for the night, after makin multiple calls to radiator shops and bike shops. I decided to take matter in my own hands found a Lowes where I purchased some JB weld to fill pin holes probable not the best fix but it stoped the leaks and allowed me ride to Arlington National Cemetary then to Collinsville VA and back home to Cincinnati OH a total of 1358 miles riden and 25 on tow truck. Just had to share my weekend and share a pic of how real riders travel.

my trip was almost a carbon copy of your's except, I left last week drove 980 miles from Dallas to Denver my radiator let go in Castle Rock which luckly is where my sister lives, had a shop in Denver repair and pressure test it. last Sat. I rode home to Dallas with only 1 extended stop. (other than gas and goes) I was stuck at the bottom of ratone pass for about 3-4 hours while the sun came up and warmed me up from 38 degress

Cox radiator guard is a good protector for the future. Nice resolve on the ride and glad it was safe.

Your bike looks great!
Radiator hole.... damn hate it when that happens... glad you never went down.

How long was your right ear ringing from that exhaust? I had to wear ear plugs when doing road trips back in the days riding the XX with D&D slip on's. Nice looking bike BTW.

Here they are and both Red and Blue have them:

It's called expanded metal and you get it in rolls at lowes or home depot for like $10.There's enough in the roll to do dozens of radiators.
I mounted them with the small zipties. Both have been installed there since 06 and have been proctecting the rads for tens of thousands of miles

Nice mileage! All I could muster over the holiday weekend was 350 miles, I've got to make more time to ride!
Glad the rad held up while you were out and about -- The Cox rad guard is on my list of goods to buy........definitely worth the cash

Oh, and I dig the color matched rear peg mounts -- trick look!

Thanks for the input and compliments on the bike. I use my Iphone during trips to ease the sound of the pipes and I use the tomtom gps feature for directions.
