Just switched to engine ice
I just want some input from you guys who are runnin engine
Ice. I switched over primarily because of the extreme heat.
Has anybody really noticed any difference with the engine
Temp? Does it help a little with the performance like it claims
to? I did the flush before adding the ice. Thanks fellas.

It will warm up a bit slower and cool down a bit faster but that is all it will do ..

Cool that's what I wanted. I guess its better then the regular
coolant in this heat.

Wonder about winter time storage and if you'd have to dump it before the freeze sets in?
Does the Engine Ice have decent cold weather protection?

Dats a pretty good question Helmutt, I dunno off hand.
I gotta look at the bottle and see what it says. I was so
concerned with the heat that I never took that into consideration.

You can run Engine Ice through all the seasons with no issues. If you are running WATER with an additive called WATER WETTER then you should drain it out and run coolant or engine ice but engine ice is fine all year long.

but not that cold.

So far it did what smokin would say it would do. Maybe install another fan for next season, hmmmmm.

U got a ZX10 fender on the front of your 14? That's supposed to help with cooling quite a bit, but up to you on the look of it..........I'm personally considering it, along with the 2nd fan, and possibly then switching to engine ice

Yeah I hear ya wit the fender, I'm not sure if I like the look though, I think with the addition of the secondary fan will do it for me.

Some guys dig it, some don't.........it really narrows up the look on the front end, in my opinion.........but sometimes, function before form.
I'm still kind of up in the air about it myself, thought about taking the extra fin strips off down each side of the front fender, get the holes filled and repaint to trim it up a hair more -- but we'll see..........the 2nd fan, and engine ice will probably fix my heatup so possibly won't need to swap the fenders anyway.

I heard some good stuff with the ice and the fan. I know Muzzy's offers a fan setup, is that what you would go with or another brand?

I use it on the race tracks that don't allow radiator fluid. about all its good for.
if you google the cooling coefficient you will see that its no more than any of the top brand radiator fluids.

Thanks for the input bro, I'm no mechanic or MC guru I ask a lot of questions to find out stuff I wanna know. You don't think it helps at all though? I did notice that it doesn't get as hot as fast, so far anyway.

Might be worth using all the time then for those spontaneous track days just to save time of drop-n-swap before running laps........I know at Mid Ohio they don't allow any standard coolants -- anything formulated with ETHYLENE GLYCOL is prohibited, but PROPYLENE GLYCOL is fine.........but don't simply drain and replace when converting or changing your coolant.........here's the recommended way per Engine Ice website -
Most every coolant product will work best when changed somewhat regularly…at minimum, we’d recommend once a year.
For racing applications, we actually recommend twice per year. The cleaner you can keep your cooling system and the fresher you can keep a fluid, the better it will perform. There are no special requirements for using Engine Ice. For any coolant and anytime you are changing coolant, we recommend a simple solution of distilled water and white distilled vinegar, both available at your local grocery store.
1. Mix the water/vinegar at 50/50
2. Fill system with the solution
3. Run engine until warm
4. Let cool
5. Drain
6. Run clear water through to rinse out vinegar.
7. Fill with coolant of choice.
This is the same as cleaning your coffee maker. The vinegar is acidic enough to clean out and contaminants and residual coolants, yet it won’t harm your seals and gaskets.
