i'm not upset .. what i'm saying is 7 entries into 5.80 index out of maybe 150 bikes showing up at the event. which over the internet everybody and their momma said they would and could run 5.80's .
every event i go to the fast classes are dead . heads-up racing is dead . but street et has the entries . hell even the grudge money races are dieing around here .
but i'd bet if it was a 6.0 index there been a few more entries .. oh and i'll get to 5.80's but i won'
t be much of a streetbike.
remember the whole thread is about any streetbike can run 5.80's
Are you comparing the general population of bikers to the gerneral population of Bikeland?? Sorry bud but this is a site mostly made up of drag racers. Not really to far fetched if you think about it. Money is tight right now and all sports are suffering. Give it time.

I can only do mid upper 80's on dope unless it is real cold and my bike will do it on motor alone. But not every pass on motor.

well I know you said 5.80 and after my last thread where I posted my numbers I said I would not post any numbers any more but friday night I put my leathers on and rode 18 miles to the track stopping on the way to get some of the good race fuel (87 pump gas) and filled out my tech card and pulled my front end strap tight and ran a 5.95 at 59 3/4 inch wheelbase. and remember I'm 210 suited right now. made 12 more runs let the strap lose and took the 35 mile route home cause it was a nice night. now how fast do you think I could go with a 40 shot or mr12? how much more of a street bike do you want. I have put 2700 miles on this year which is low for me but I pick my boy up 3 nights a week so don't get to ride to work as much anymore. I will say it's not so much the index, as racing in general is falling off, even more so for the bikes at least around here. and if I could sell mine tomorrow I would be done for awhile as well. even after being up to 7 wins this year and 3 runner ups I'm not having fun anymore.

I do totally understand what 1bad is trying to say. I won't run an index class unless I can run .10 under in the worst heat. so I would never enter a 5.80 class either heck 6.00 would be pushing it for me as well.

but is it really a streetbike then Dan . CAN your boys go run the canyons with extensions and not have chicken strips
Neither of them have ever run extensions on their 14's. They were raised riding the twisties beginning on their 14th birthdays.

Dan's sons are much better than average riders, and smaller guys than a lot of us. I'm pretty sure that 1Bad weighs twice as much as either of them.

Since we live at the foot of Deals Gap our streetbikes run stock arms. I couldn't help but notice at Maxton a few months ago that both the boys 14's were the only bikes that I saw on the starting line that didn't have chicken strips and they both broke 200.....
They usually run low 5.90's, neither have been in the eighties but it's been hot.
They both foot shift and run pump gas on motor.
5.80's is pretty fast on stock arms but I'm sure what you're referring to on that tracks streetbikes they can be extended.
Dan
what i'm referring to is your comments on streetbike have stock arms for streetriding .. and then you going to put extentions on to run 5.80 with tiny riders... i don't think it still a streetbike if you have to change the street set-up just to race. and 5.89 does not win a 5.80 index . and what i'm saying not many streetbikes are 5.80 bikes ..

thats no shit .if you planning on winning a 5.80 class better be able to cover it easily ..if you can only barely run 5.82 and you spin or wheelie your fukked .even if you nailed the other guy on the tree that has the 5.50 bike

I run 9.01-9.04 wide open, you think I should back out of the 9.0 class cause I can't run a 8.90?

I believe when we get some cool weather both the boys will break into the 5.80's without extensions..........on stock arms on their n/a 14's.
Now it won't be a 5.80 and I doubt they could win a 5.80 class index. There is several guys around here running longer arms and their bikes are truly streetable but they sure ain't railing thru the Gap.
Both my sons just like running their bikes at the strip just like they ride them on the street except for lowering them some.

2 kott races 1 win, the race I didnt win my bike would only run 9.17 with bad gas, I still made the semi's, if sand bagging works for you and the badguy, then ride on.
