2nd gen 14 anytime soon?

Just wondering if anyone has heard or read anything? I'd probably trade my 07 in for a new body style 14!

I've not heard anything about a new 14, not even a rumour.

I think all the R&D money at Kawasaki has gone into the new 2011 ZX-10R, the S1000RR beater.

By the way, the British magazine Performance Bikes have just got 197mph out of a very stock BMW by fitting a minus 2 teeth rear sprocket, mirrors off and a bit of taping.

They could have easily done it with a redesigned 14, but I guess a new 10 to take on the beemer is better for bragging! Thanks for the info.

Dunno, but I'm sure you're asking about a 3rd gen as a 2nd came out in 08.

The new 10 has to be out soon though!

On the runway at Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire, England where they do most of their speed testing, about a mile and three-quarters in length, including stopping distance and I think they use a sat-nav type of data logger for measuring the speed. Not sure they mentioned conditions.

From the press intro:

".......the peak horsepower did increase to 203 with the ram air from “right
around 200” for the 2007 model year."

Nuff said?

Nah, there's more:

More Low-End Torque and Power (Still doesn’t hit as hard as the Busa off idle, but the
smoothness is nice on the street.)
More Mid-Range Response (The bike is useless at the drag strip at stock height. It’s like a big unicycle when the quicker opening flies let it breath!)
Higher Peak Horsepower--203 HP Claimed (with ram air, measured at the crankshaft). which I rode in near perfect conditions at Atco.
Revised - Cylinder Head
Revised - Intake Porting
Provides Optimum Flow Characteristics
Revised - Sub-Throttle Injectors
Increased Spray Angle from 15° to 20°
Dispersing Atomized Fuel over a Wider Area
Increased Low-End Power and Torque
Improved Mid Range Response
Revised- Piston Profiles
Reduced Mechanical Noise
Revised – Cylinder Head Cover
Secondary Air Ports Increased Approx. 20%
Increased Clean Air Flow into Exhaust System
Revised – Air Switching Valve (ASV)
Handles Approximately 5% More Air
193 PS (Without Ram Air)
203 PS (With Ram Air)

New head ( copy of the new zx10 and BMW ) Rev limit raised to 12500..Three way power switch ( wet ) ( sport ) and ( full race )... Improved aerodynamics ( shaper body lines) .. New lite weight forged wheels ..58 inch wheel base adjustable to 64 with extra chain included in the tool box .. Adjustable wheely controll .. fully adjustable lowering links factory .. Kawi claims this bike will be the first and only bike offered from the factory ready to race that is fully street legal .. Mother Kawi is ready to rewrite the record books once and for all ...

I knew they had more power, but I figured that a new generation meant different styling...kinda like with cars and trucks.....sorry.

Fuck different styling... It's not worth changing unless they add more power.

Dear Kawasaki,
Please listen to smokinZX14. If you do so I will be your friend forever.

If you look at it like cars, C5 vette, 5th Gen Mustang, etc., you are correct!

Revised - Cylinder Head - the air inlet holes are bigger to lower emissions
Revised - Intake Porting - there's no difference in the intake ports
Provides Optimum Flow Characteristics - there's no difference in the intake or exhaust ports
Revised - Sub-Throttle Injectors - the 06-07 injectors are 410cc/min and the 08-09 are 350cc/min
Increased Spray Angle from 15° to 20° - We didn't see this testing the two injectors
Dispersing Atomized Fuel over a Wider Area - We didn't see this testing the two injectors
Increased Low-End Power and Torque - ???? reprogramming the upper butterfly's?
Improved Mid Range Response - ???? reprogramming the upper butterfly's?
Revised- Piston Profiles
Reduced Mechanical Noise
Revised – Cylinder Head Cover - the air inlet holes are bigger to lower emissions
Secondary Air Ports Increased Approx. 20% - the air inlet holes are bigger to lower emissions
Increased Clean Air Flow into Exhaust System - the air inlet holes are bigger to lower emitions
Revised – Air Switching Valve (ASV) - the air inlet holes are bigger to lower emitions
Handles Approximately 5% More Air - the intake and exhaust ports are the same, the air inlet holes in the exhaust ports are bigger to lower emitions

The cams are the same except the base circle is revised on the 08 and 09 on the intake cam. So as far as the top end of the engine there is no difference in performance. The porting and cams are the same.

So, personally I wouldn't call the 08-09 a 2nd generation just for some minor tweaking. I think it was more of a refinement.

It's gonna be awhile. I couldn't give my 14 away when I was trying to sell it. Alot of dealerships don't even want a 14 in a trade in. It's just not selling well enough to justify a redesign. A guy at the dealership had a 14 on the floor since December. The only one in the dealership.

maybe kawasaki will feel pressure to increase torque on the C14 when the K1600GT come out .... it will be hard to match the 130 ft-lbs torque without increasing the stroke... A taller deck block would be needed to get enough stoke to do that . That would be good for us :-)

But I dont think there are enough C14 sales to justify that.

Thats the same place and magazine that claimed they clocked a stock gen 1 busa over 200mph back when they first came out. I think it was 200.2 or something like that lol. So I guess maybe the beemer hasn't quite beat everybody yet eh?
