Installing Brock's lowering links for the back

I have the older version so these are 2 dog bones with 3 hole pattern. The spring/shock responded when I took the stock links off and the bike raised. The hole pattern is off to install the new links and both the spring and the shock is fully engaged(causing the spring/shock to stretch out). How do I compressed the shock/spring while applying the bolts and nuts to put the bike back as it were.

If I raised the bike by putting the jack under the spring/shock, the bike raises but the spring/shock does NOT compress and the holes are still off!

You have to move the swingarm. You should have the single-hold side of the link attached to the swingarm, and the other end goes to the lower suspension link. Move the swingarm up in order to align the holes.

you don't have the weight of the bike sitting on the rear tire or a swingarm stand do ya? Suspension needs to be completely unloaded to do this.

*****FIRST, you'll have to take the mid pipe off so you can remove the link bolts *****

Put the bike on a front stand or Condor or Baxley front wheel stand...If not then have your helper stand on the throttle side of the bike while you have the bike on the kick stand and in gear so it doesnt roll...

Get a small scissor jack from a toyota or honda & put it over the rear wheel open the scissor jack up against the inner fender, then losen up the nuts on the oem links...Jack it up a little at a time till you can push the bolts out with your fingers...Put the Brocks links in & you need to change the direction of the bolts so the nuts are on the throttle side of the bike!!!...Put the single hole side on first, bolt from the chain side & nut from throttle side but dont tighten it all the way yet.... jack the bike down to the middle hole & install the bolt from the chain side.....

Now you need someone to help you.....put the kick stand down and go to the throttle side of the bike holding the front brake and leaning against the bike push the bike onto the kick stand having your helper pull the bolt out as you move the bike slightly so he can pull the bolt out, when bolt out lower the bike slowly as your helper lines up the last hole of the links with the shock linkage as your helper pushes the bolt through as you hold the bike, tell the helper to make sure the bolt is all the way through the link on the other side.....Thats it...Then put the nut on & tighten BOTH till tight, but you dont need to tighten them super tight...

One person can do this job easily. If you put the bike on both front and rear stands, and then slightly jack it up at the lower suspension linkage, you will be fine. Either way, take your time, and think about the mechanics of the suspension when you do it.

Yes I do...but I understand the recommendations of all, it's been a long day with school orientations for my son and shopping for pertinent supplies for his honors classes. I will get a fresh start in the morning when I'm not so stretched out! Thanks fellas!

OK, so I got a fresh start at dawn and put my lower links on after procrastinating for 8 months. Thanks again fellas! I must provide credit for the plethora of info I've learned on this site!

Yesterday was just an off day for me and it was HOT down here in FL!

I bought the Muzzy 3-hole links and I use a wood block under the back of the engine, behind the sump as a jacking point. Changing the height between track and road is easy with the bike on a paddock stand for stability you can take the bike's weight off the link spindle so it's easy to remove and then line up the required holes in the lowering link by adjusting the jack height.

Like Shane661 said, it's easy.
