Shane, Have you seen the hinged tank mount for the 14 that Two Wheel Werkz makes?
I saw it a few weeks ago and thought of you. You seem to work on them enough for it to be beneficial. If you have not seen it ill try and get a pic and post it up.

Yes, we got it in IL...I don't remember exactly where, but within a couple of hours of Chicago, if I recall.

Yeah, I've seen the hinge. I thought about it, but then I got on the weight-reduction kick. I usually just use a 2 x 4 prop, and/or put zip ties through the rear bolt holes...the cheapo hinge.

More work completed:
Installed the Muzzy steering damper from my bike, a kill switch, and a speedo healer.
Also swapped over some race body panels, with a fresh coat of rattle can paint.
She rode the bike for the first time as well. I also took it for a spin, and it feels strong!

Well we got the bike buttoned up, and took it to Maxton this weekend. It was wearing my body panels, and BST wheels. Racheal had not made an LSR pass in about 15 months, and we had not been to Maxton in 16 months, so we didn't have any huge expections.
We knew it would take a few passes for her to get used to the bike. I made an easy shakedown pass at 184 mph, short-shiting the bike. I really only planned to run 170, and I rolled out early. I half expected the slip to show 165 mph.
Anyway, with the bike checked out safe, I handed it over to her. She built her speeds up gradually, having only ever ridden a 14 for about 20 miles, and that was on Thursday. She cruised the track at 119, then 152, then 175. A couple passes of 188-189 were next. The next 5 passes were all in the 190's, with 3 of them 193+ passes. Here was her best:
193.99 mph. Faster than I have been on mine in the mile, by just a little bit. There was more in the bike, but I didn't have a logger and I started adding a little fuel, which ultimately slowed the bike down. Still, a nice result for this bike and for her, and just the beginning, I'm sure. Honestly, you don't see too many of them with a stock motor encroaching on the mid-190's...and I am sure this bike will run 196+ with a little more tuning, and seat time for her.

Thanks James! She hot-lapped the bike on Sunday and it was nice to have the Amsoil in there, for some peace of mind. Each pass is 25+ seconds WOT. The bikes can get pretty hot on the return road, especially when you are making passes non-stop.
We are taking the bike to the dragstrip in a few weeks, weather-permitting. We'll see how she likes this one compared to the GSXR. I am extending the 14 soon.

A couple more shots of the bike as it sits:
The next major changes will be adding some wheelbase and an airshifter. Of course, it will also have to give up my bodywork and wheels.

I don't know. She has never ridden a 14 at the dragstrip...and only has 20 street miles in the saddle. We'll see, it will be a big change from the GSXR.
Next year, I see her going 8's at around 64" wheelbase, and 196 mph+ in the mile.

with wheelbase and an air shifter she should at least run some low 9's her first time out. I'm going to guess teens to twenties. Especially with it being fall... The DA at MIR was -235ft on saturday!

That would be great, but we're not setting any goals other than seat time and working on the setup.

don't know her skill level or weight but twenties don't come easy with stock motor.

I really had a good time riding the bike this last weekend. Wish I had more time to really get comfortable on the bike before the mile. I truly believe I will enjoy this bike to the fullest.
The 14 is definitely more powerful than my gsxr1000. I am very anxious and excited to take it to the drag strip!

Working on a few new things. Spencer Cycle swingarm extensions, Tiger Racing Chain Guard, gearing change, etc...
Soon my wheels and race bodywork will come off. She might end up with my Diablo Black setup though...since I don't need the panels for my race bike.
I also just picked up a Cycle-Tek air shifter loom to install (I have the other parts to complete the setup).

That is a Catalyst lowered front fender. It mounts up in 4 holes, in stock locations. 2 in front of the fork leg, and two behind. In fact, that one is just using the front two bolts, and I have zip ties in the rear two...tested to 193.99 mph.
It comes unpainted and you have to drill the holes.
