Will a stock motor handle 6psi boost?
Like the title says. Will a stock motor 14 handle 6psi reliably on pump gas?

Yes yes yes it will hold that all day long the 14motor is a tank. It will laugh at 6 psi just get a good tune on it with a good fuel system keep the AFRs FAT like mid 11s and you will love it.

From everything I've seen, a stock motor will eat up 6psi no problem. Davej put something like 30k miles on his stock motored stage 1 muzzy kit. The only reason it failed was because of his fuel system. So in short, heck ya!
I lowered my compression to 10.3:1 using a thicker head gasket, and I'm hoping to do somewhere between 12-15 psi on the stock motor!
Edit: 6psi is fine for pump. 7-8 psi is pushing it on pump. I'll be running e85.

I poped the head gasket on my turbo 14 because of boost creep when it just had the stock motor. I had good gas in it. also an air shifter backfire/pop under boost will get the head gasket also. after that I just put shorter rods and turbo pistons in it. also head studs. at minimum I would put head studs in it. just my 2 cents. and it poped a head gasket again at 20 lbs of boost with all that stuff. but after a cometic head gasket it was trouble free.

Dang....... I sure hope I don't pop a head gasket. I torqued my stock headbolts to 58 lbs. Maybe I'll just keep the boost down. I don't want to chase numbers, I'd rather just have a smooth reliable bike.

Hard to say. I hope to dyno mine next week, and if it makes decent power then it might be worth it. However, it's probably just better to buy some Wossener turbo pistons. That's what I should've done. Then again, if you buy pistons, you'll want rods.... and if you want rods, you'll want a better oiling system so you don't spin lower end bearings. It never really ends. I'll give up some power but reliability should be very high I'd think. But it's all bench racing till mine runs.

Taking mine in to have it tuned tomorrow, right now it has a 7psi e85 map in it i got from a member here.
I have a 7psi spring in the waste gate with 3 shims, suppose to give me around 8psi.
Will have the afr set around 11.8 no boost and 11.5 on boost.
Pulling 4 degrees timing at 5psi and up.

Getting a good tune really helps. I still had boost creep and had to watch it close on pump gas. I mostly rode around with Av gas in it that I could get cheap at the airport. 100 octane. and a couple of onces of 2 cycle premix to a tank full of gas for good measure.
