How many of you change your crush washer everytime you change the oil? I did not this time and its dripping a bit, I cranked down some more on the bolt this morning hopefully it will stop

. I have reused it 6 times now and no leaks. Do NOT over torque the oil drain bolt. I just snug with a 17MM box end wrench. About 10 pounds of torque, good guess. :-)

22 Foot Pounds Max is what the service manual recomends . I always look at the washer and make sure it still has a smooth finish, the same on the machined finsh on the oil pan. I also look at the flat that is made on the hex oli drain boilt to see if it has scratches that would let oil drip by or cut in to the washer.. check the threads on the bolt and the pan thread too.

I purchased some Flat drain bolts from Shane661 as they do not have the tall hex head. The are 'Allen" head drive bolts and this allows you to remove the casting/guard that is in front of the stock dain bolt. Now you have 3/8 or more of a inch clearence under the oil pan. If you load on a trailer or bike lift with a ramp that is not steep enough you can push the drain bolt into the pan and it will crack the pan.

This is also a good thing if you Drag Race and you have lowered the 14..... :-) and do a Big wheelie and come Down Hard. ORS can do a pan mod that gives you a Lot more clerence.
I would purchase a cheep plastic drain pan .super clean. And drain my fresh oil and look at all the things I have suggested if it was my 14

I did not change mine on the very first oil change which I think is done at 1000 miles, the second one I did and the shop I got it from the fit was not the best, that is what is on there now, that could be part of the issue, seems a bit big in the center it does not fit the bolt "snug" to much of a gap, also when I changed the oil, it was still dripping a tad, and I kind fumbled getting it on before some oil dripped on it, I did wipe it off after I tightened it but not sure if that extra oil could have made it not seal as well.......

It has to fit right or it will leak new or not. I change 'em if I have a new one handy or just reuse the old one if not. Never had a leak. Change it out to a low profile allen bolt if you can find one. Shane had some awhile back but you can find them at a good hardware or auto parts store.

Well cranking it down more yesterday worked so far, so if it holds I will wait till the next oil change to get a new better fitting crush washer, I have also seen, not sure if it was on here or another forum, that there is an aprilia I think oil plug that fits that is low profile as well think I will be getting that too.
Thanks all for your help
