A little dyno testing .......

As most of you know i switched from a Brocks Smeg to his New CT single system ... The CT system same day same dyno picked up 2 HP at peak ( redline ) The good news is it picked up 3 HP from 3000 to 7000 rpms with a jump of 5 HP from 7400 to 9500 then it tappered down to 2 HP at peak ( redline ) .. I'm very happy with the gains and i really like the look and sound of the pipe .. That puts my bike at 172 HP 102 TQ at peak RPMs Vs 169 to 170 HP same day with the Smeg ..I'm using Brocks track map with my A/F running 12.9 to 12.7 6000 RPMs to redline ..

Brock kept bugging me to try his injector cleaner but i didn't think it would be worth it ... I don't care for things like "Valve job in a can" .To me that kind of stuff is like the "Sham wow " crap on TV ... After all i only have 2000 miles on my bike so why would it have dirty injectors ? But brock kept at me with the injector cleaner so i broke down and had him send me a can ... I did the test as brock told me to do , 16 oz of cleaner to two gallons pump gas and drove the bike about 10 to 15 miles ... First i put the bike on the dyno as is with 2 gallons of 87 pump gas ( no Injector cleaner ) and came up with 172 HP .. Then i added the injector cleaner and put 10 to 15 miles on the bike .. Then i drained all the fuel out of the bike and added fresh 87 pump gas .. I tossed the bike back on the dyno and pulled 175 HP ...WTF !!!! That's a 3 hp gain was across the the hole RPM range ( 3000 to 10,600 ) This was done same day same dyno and about 3 hours of each other ..No way injector cleaning would do that ..But the numbers are real and i made the test as fair as i could ... Also my A/F ratio line was much better after the injector cleaning .. It took out some of the dips and high spots making the A/F line very flat ..Next time Brocks asks me to do something i'm not going to ask why and just do it ..lol....
I should add what brock told me about the injectors .. He said if you run MR9 you will not need to do this injector cleaning .. He said the MR9 does a fine job of cleaning the injectors and carbon build up on the valves and pistons .. But if you are like me and only run pump gas in your motor you may see some gains ... The gains depend on how dirty your injectors are to start with .. Clearly mine were some what dirty... Brock has found that new bikes with low miles suffer from dirty injectors .. It has something to do with corrosion coating Kawi puts in the gas tank before shipping the motorcycle to the dealers ..I'm going to keep a can of this injector cleaner on hand and from time to time add some just to keep things in a good state of tune ....

Guys,

The 14's are not nearly as bad as the Suzuki's.... we have picked up over 10 HP on older Busa's!

Also,

This product should not be confused with any type of typical fuel cleaner...it’s VERY ROWDY and not available over the counter.

I run MR9 and after each use I put in Lucas FI cleaner just to lubricate the valves. MR9 is lethal if left in your bike. That Lucas is Rowdy to but it makes my stomach hurt.

FYI..........if you poke holes in the air filter to let it breathe and richen the fuel map 5% across the range you should pick up 17 horses with the injector cleaner.

Brocks cleaner just arrived. Use a whole can in 2 gals??? Wow. that is $20.00 a gallon. It cost me $10.00 to ship to Texas. My 2007 has 7500 street miles always pump gas. 93 Usually Shell (have a credit card). Redline I use to use was not mixed this way. Bottle worked for 20 gallons of gas.But never in 14. Will try it tomorrow and run it all thru and re fill with Shell 96 and ride another 50 miles. Time to roll on with friends 14's and see if it helped my 14

Louis.
