Ohlins ?

Quick question. Is there a difference ,functionally, between a full Ohlins fork assy compared to the full Ohlins inserts install into the stock forks?

Obviously, the full fork assembly from Ohlins is a ton more money....but will I notice a difference in ride & handling between the two?

Not sure - only had experience with Ohlins fork assermblies and shock on my old Thunderace.........I do know that the forks and shock saved some weight over stock, but I've wondered the same thing myself and considered the fork insert kits for my 14 -- does anyone have good info on these setups?? SteveWFL??

I know that "BullDogProStock" has ample knowledge in this field as I bought my 14 from him -- he's a part-time roadracer for like 20 years now.......but I know he's been busy engineering for Brock the last year or 2 and doens't hop on here anymore that I've seen.

gumbybob, for a novice track rider as myself, no difference whatsoever.

to a pro racer, all the difference in the world. the Ohlins tubes are much better quality and performance than the ohlins internals in stock tubes.

although ohlins just when from 25 mm to 30 mm inserts and improved the internals, they still will not match the performance of a full ohlins fork set.

for a 100% correct answer, give their motorcycle expert Matt Sage a call at Ohlins -

they are extremely nice folks.

Street only.....

If you can spare all that $$$ then buy them...My opinion is its a waste of $$$...Just spend the time to adjust your forks for the roads you travel most...

No, not yet.
Still investigating.

How about Race Tech?
As good as Ohlins for the street?

NO.

RaceTech is better than stock (as is anything), but can't be compared to Ohlins. I'd go GMD Computrac over RaceTech too by the way if you're cutting corners. You were on track with Ohlins though!

I know the Ohlins seem like a lot of money, but it's money well spent. Once you've ridden a bike with those forks, you'll see.
To me, on my 00' 12, the R/T forks made an absolute huge difference. The control and feedback under hard braking into corners is one of the most dramatic differences.
