At first it looks like I can see that, but then. Just think the pistons are going twice as fast.

With the valve springs and retainers rotating like that, shouldn't the valves be floating or coming close?

I've seen that.... crazy. They also have another one where it actually shows the valves going in and out of the head.

Thats cool, as far as taking a long time to spool up, that was done on purpose, that thing will shoot up to redline reallllyyy quick!

Its similar to other over head cam valvetrain but no the same.
Ypu can see the followers, acting on the valves driven by the cam lobes.
They act as levers and accellerate the valves to wfo position much faster than conventional buckets on a cam lobe do, which means the valve is wfo for more crank duration.

A cam acting on buckets would have to have rectangular shaped lobes to have the same effect, which mechanically is impossible.

This superior valvtrain design and head porting / combustion chambers are what allow the bmw to make so much power in comparison to the others.

KTM uses very similar design as well, and the allows their bikes to make superior HP to the Jap 4 stroke motocross bikes. cc per cc. as well.
