My 17/40 update
I'm still playing with the suggested 17/40 gearing at SWB.
In my two times out testing it my mph was way low 144mph.
And my ET's have been about a tenth slower. 9.5's
Yesterday we had a heads up pro tree 9.50 class at our track. Only two bikes showed up so I was in the finals automatically. I wasn't happy about the turnout especially with all the bikes that come to Test n Tune each week.
Never the less bike would shift into 2nd during two time runs and it ran 9.64 and 9.63 at 147 and 148. So I was pleased that the mph was back to where it should be. The third time run it shifted fine and I went 9.51@148. This is perfect for the class. In the one and only round of eliminations the other guy almost went over backwards and my shifter shot shit again and I ended up foot shifting to a 9.75 @139 win.
So the gear seems to be perfect for me in a 9.50 class as long as I can keep a decent mph.
I still am not pleased with how the 60ft and 330ft are working out though..

Haha... I know I can go faster... But I like to compete more so than test n tune.. And there are some fun heads up index classes being offered in our area. Rick you know not much is offered to us in our area for bikes to compete in.... We gotta support our local programs or dont complain when they get rid of the bike classes. You should run your bike on motor in the class.

That gearing will work for him, give it time you really need to get on the throttle quick with that gearing.

I told you it would take a bit to get used to that gearing. I was suprised how much it screwed up my launch. It took me a solid month of weekly TnT to start getting the feel for it.
You need to launch at a higher rpm than you would at stock gearing. I've gotten pretty good at mid 1.5s consistently with current set up.
